Dipole effect in long-period fiber grating
Bragg Gratings, Photosensitivity, and Poling in Glass Waveguides, 2001An effect of dipole by the UV-induced birefringence was analyzed using a long-period fiber grating. It was approximately 5.6% in UV-induced refractive index change due to the photosensitivity of Ge-related glass defects in our experiment.

Novel tunable long-period fiber grating filters
SPIE Proceedings, 2004A novel method to mechanically induce a long-period fiber grating (LPFG) by a grooved plate is reported. The transmission spectra of this kind of grating under different pressures and some special LPFG’s are experimentally investigated. This method is simple and reconfigurable and offers large spectra tunability.

Hermetic sealing of long period fiber gratings
Proceedings of SPIE, 2006A method of writing long period grating and a model to explain light coupling between fundamental mode and cladding mode are presented. One athermal hermetic sealing approach is proposed to form hermetic sealing long period fiber grating. A long period fiber grating was designed and written for this experiment.

Bend-insensitive long-period fiber grating sensors
Optics and Lasers in Engineering, 2004Abstract A novel bend-insensitive long-period fiber grating (LPFG) sensor written using focused CO 2 laser pulses is demonstrated, for the first time, to our knowledge. It is found that the central wavelength shift of such a LPFG is only −0.018 nm even for a curvature of 1.1 m −1 at the most bend-insensitive position of the LPFG.

Long-period fiber gratings in WDM applications
