Characterization of Long-period Grating Refractive Index Sensors and Their Applications

open access: yesSensors, 2009
The influence of grating length and bend radius of long-period gratings (LPGs) on refractive index sensing was examined. Sensitivity to refractive indexes smaller than that of silica could be enhanced by bending LPGs.

Curvature prediction of long‐period fibre grating based on random forest regression

open access: yesIET Optoelectronics, 2022
This study proposes a long‐period fibre grating (LPFG) curvature estimation method based on random forest regression (RFR) to address the shortcomings of the existing curvature evaluation method, namely, polynomial fitting; these shortcomings cause ...

Graphene oxide coated long period grating based fibre optic humidity sensor [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In this paper, the response of a graphene oxide (GO) coated long period grating (LPG) to the change in temperature and in humidity is reported. To create the probe, an improved Hummer's method was used to synthesis the GO solution used as its basis ...

Angularly Cascaded Long-Period Fiber Grating for Curvature and Temperature Detection

open access: yesSensors, 2023
A high-sensitivity curvature sensor with dual-parameter measurement ability based on angularly cascaded long-period fiber grating (AC-LPFG) is proposed and experimentally demonstrated, which consists of two titled LPFGs (TLPFGs) with different tilt ...

Photochemical long-period grating fabrication in pure-fused-silica photonic crystal fiber

open access: yes, 2007
We report on first photochemical recording of a long-period fiber grating (LPFG) in a pure fused silica photonic crystal fiber (PCF), which is based on two-photon absorption (TPA) of high-intensity femtosecond 264 nm pulses.

Nonlinear tunneling effect of snakelike self-similar waves in a grating dual-core waveguide amplifier

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2019
We study on the nonlinear tunneling effect of snakelike self-similar waves of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation with gains in an asymmetric dual-core waveguide amplifier with a long-period grating.

Use of Dynamical Undulator Mechanism to Produce Short Wavelength Radiation in Volume FEL (VFEL)

open access: yes, 2002
VFEL lasing in system with dynamical undulator is described. In this system radiation of long wavelength creates the undulator for lasing on shorter wavelength. Two diffraction gratings with different spatial periods form VFEL resonator. The grating with

NanoMOF‐Based Multilevel Anti‐Counterfeiting by a Combination of Visible and Invisible Photoluminescence and Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.
