Abstract This paper analyses the processes which govern structural response, and uses observations of strong earthquake ground motion to propose quantitative extrapolation of pseudo relative velocity spectral amplitudes to long (100 > T > 1 s) periods.

ACCELERATION RESPONSE AMPLIFICATION RATIO CONSIDERING LONG-PERIOD GROUND MOTIONS

In the seismic design standard (ASCE7), the acceleration response amplification ratio of non-structural components is 1–7.5, depending on the height to which the non-structural components are attached. The acceleration response amplification ratio of the non-structural components has been proposed for short-period ground motions.
