Phantasmic Encounters in the Arctic: Haunting Materialities Beyond the Ghosts of War

open access: yesAnthropology of Consciousness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In the vast north, ghostly experiences are common for locals and outsiders alike. Here, we explore how cultural‐natural attributes, like remoteness and extreme seasonal variation, compound experiences of the haunting in visceral ways. This provides the Arctic region with an unusually pronounced baseline of other‐than‐human agency, which in the

Simulation of the In Situ Spatially Varying Ground Motions and Nonlinear Seismic Response Analysis of the Cable-Stayed Bridge

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2020
To study the nonlinear seismic behavior and seismic resistance of the long-span cable-stayed bridges subjected to earthquakes, the multidimensional and multisupported artificial ground motions are synthesized first based on the in situ site conditions of

GPS monitoring of a steel box girder viaduct [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Structural performance monitoring of bridges has increased as major infrastructure ages and is required to sustain loads that are significantly greater than those predicted during design.

Making with the Trouble: Un/Enfolding Posthuman Participants with Young People in Creative Post‐Qualitative Research

open access: yesInternational Journal of Art &Design Education, EarlyView.
Abstract This paper explores how ‘what matters’ can surface in multisensory arts‐informed projects as ways for young people to survive and stay with gender and sexuality troubles that are always more than theirs. Situated in an ex‐mining post‐industrial locale, we make an agential cut in a longitudinal research and engagement project called Unboxing ...

Buffeting Characteristics of a Long-Span Cable-Stayed Bridge Crossing a Deep Canyon during Erection: Response Evaluation and Vibration Control

open access: yesBuildings
The stiffness of a long-span cable-stayed bridge under construction may be much lower than that observed in service, making it more susceptible to wind effects, especially for a bridge designed using high piers crossing a deep canyon.

APPLICABILITY OF PARTIALLY ANCHORED CABLE-STAYED BRIDGE TO LONG-SPAN BRIDGE

open access: yesDoboku Gakkai Ronbunshu, 1995

Response analysis of a long-span cable-stayed bridge with ultra-high piles subjected to near-fault ground motions considering deep-water, sedimentation, local site, and wave-passage effect

open access: yesAdvances in Bridge Engineering
The objective of this study is to examine the dynamic response behavior of a long-span cable-stayed bridge with ultra-high piles subjected to near-fault ground motions, comprehensively considering deep-water, sedimentation, local site, and wave-passage ...
