Stellar intensity interferometry: Experimental steps toward long-baseline observations

open access: yes, 2010
Experiments are in progress to prepare for intensity interferometry with arrays of air Cherenkov telescopes. At the Bonneville Seabase site, near Salt Lake City, a testbed observatory has been set up with two 3-m air Cherenkov telescopes on a 23-m ...

Predicting the Future Burden of Renal Replacement Therapy in Türkiye Using National Registry Data and Comparative Modeling Approaches

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic kidney disease is a growing public health problem worldwide, and the number of patients requiring renal replacement therapy is steadily increasing. Türkiye has experienced a similar rise in both the incidence and prevalence of renal replacement therapy over the past decades; however, national‐level projections of future ...

LBCS: The LOFAR Long-Baseline Calibrator Survey [PDF]

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics, 2016
(abridged). We outline LBCS (the LOFAR Long-Baseline Calibrator Survey), whose aim is to identify sources suitable for calibrating the highest-resolution observations made with the International LOFAR Telescope, which include baselines >1000 km. Suitable sources must contain significant correlated flux density (50-100mJy) at frequencies around 110 ...

Peptide‐based ligand antagonists block a Vibrio cholerae adhesin

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The structure of a peptide‐binding domain of the Vibrio cholerae adhesin FrhA was solved by X‐ray crystallography, revealing how the inhibitory peptide AGYTD binds tightly at its Ca2+‐coordinated pocket. Structure‐guided design incorporating D‐amino acids enhanced binding affinity, providing a foundation for developing anti‐adhesion therapeutics ...

PHOTON MASS AND VERY LONG BASELINE INTERFEROMETRY [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Modern Physics D, 2010
A relation between the photon mass, its frequency, ν, and the deflection parameter, γ, determined by experimentalists (that characterizes the contribution of space curvature to gravitational deflection) is found. This amazing result allows us to conclude that the knowledge of the parameters ν and γ is all we need to set up gravitational bounds on the ...

Degeneracy and strategies of long baseline and reactor experiments

open access: yes, 2004
Assuming that the JPARC experiment measures the oscillation probabilities $P(\nu_\mu\to\nu_e)$ and $P(\bar{\nu}_\mu\to\bar{\nu}_e)$ at $|\Delta m^2_{31}|L/4E=\pi/2$, I discuss what kind of extra experiment (long baseline or reactor) can contribute to ...

The role of histone modifications in transcription regulation upon DNA damage

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review discusses the critical role of histone modifications in regulating gene expression during the DNA damage response (DDR). By modulating chromatin structure and recruiting repair factors, these post‐translational modifications fine‐tune transcriptional programmes to maintain genomic stability.

Atmospheric Limitations for High-frequency Ground-based Very Long Baseline Interferometry

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Very long baseline interferometry (VLBI) provides the highest-resolution images in astronomy. The sharpest resolution is nominally achieved at the highest frequencies, but as the observing frequency increases, so too does the atmospheric contribution to ...

Prediction on CP Violation in Long Baseline Neutrino Oscillation Experiments

open access: yes, 1997
We predict CP violation in the long baseline accelerator experiments taking into consideration the recent LSND data and the atmospheric neutrino data.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).
