Long-period waveguide grating filter with two composite gratings

Proceedings of SPIE, 2006
We demonstrate LPWG in sol-gel material with replica molding and stamping technique. The grating structures were fabricated on top and bottom of the same ridge waveguide and operate at both communication wavelengths 1550 and 1310 nm respectively.

Recoated temperature-insensitive long-period gratings

Bragg Gratings, Photosensitivity, and Poling in Glass Fibers and Waveguides: Applications and Fundamentals, 1997
Long-period gratings are now being used as gain equalizers in broadband amplifiers1 and as band-rejection filters in a variety of applications.2 While these devices provide elegant in-fiber solutions to many problems in fiber communications, they can exhibit high temperature sensitivities if sufficient care is not taken in their design. When written in

Splicer-based long-period fiber gratings

OFC '98. Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exhibit. Technical Digest. Conference Edition. 1998 OSA Technical Digest Series Vol.2 (IEEE Cat. No.98CH36177), 2002
Summary form only given. Presents a one-step process for the fabrication of efficient, compact long-period gratings. The technique makes use ofa controlled arc to periodically modify an optical fiber by a pair of electrodes. The setup comprises a commercially available splicer whose fiber holding mechanism is replaced by a motorized stage, which allows

Wavelength tunable long-period fiber grating

Fifth Asia-Pacific Conference on ... and Fourth Optoelectronics and Communications Conference on Communications,, 1999
Wavelength tunable long-period fiber gratings in specially designed optical fibers, which have temperature sensitivity of /spl plusmn/15 nm/100/spl deg/C, have been developed. The temperature sensitivity was three times greater than that in dispersion shifted fiber.

Magnetomechanically induced long period fiber gratings

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2008
In this work, we report a simple, flexible method to create long period fiber gratings mechanically by controlling the repulsion/attraction force between two magnets that pressing a plate with a periodic array of small glass cylinders to a short length of optical fiber.

Long-period planar waveguide gratings devices

CLEO/Pacific Rim 2003. The 5th Pacific Rim Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics (IEEE Cat. No.03TH8671), 2004
Long-period waveguide gratings based on a low-loss negative tone ENR polymer have been fabricated using two different fabrication processes. Both structures exhibit similar transmission characteristics.

Development of long-period fiber grating coupling devices

Applied Optics, 2008
A long-period fiber grating (LPFG) formed in a single-mode fiber is considered as an effective device to tap light from the core of fiber. This light-tapping property of the LPFG allows a new class of wavelength-selective optical couplers to be realized by using the configuration of parallel LPFGs. Over the years a number of four-port and six-port LPFG

Long-period grating Michelson refractometric sensor

Measurement Science and Technology, 2004
This paper presents a single-probe Michelson interferometer that uses mode coupling in a long-period grating to establish the two optical paths in a single optical fibre. The interferometer phase shift depends on the refractive index of the material that surrounds the fibre probe, with the phase sensitivity directly proportional to the probe length.

Thermo-induced long-period fibre gratings

11th International Conference on Integrated Optics and Optical Fibre Communications. 23rd European Conference on Optical Communications IOOC-ECOC97, 1997
A new technique for long-period fibre grating fabrication using thermally activated diffusion of a core dopant to the cladding region has been proposed. Gratings written in a nitrogen-doped fibre with the help of a CO laser or an electric are have exhibited an excellent resistance to a thermal decay.
