Sensing Features of Arc-induced Long Period Gratings

open access: yesProceedings, 2019
In this work, we report a systematic investigation about the sensitivity of arc-induced Long Period Gratings in standard SMF28 fiber. Several gratings were fabricated with period Λ in range 330−630 µm and characterized towards changes in ...

Structural microfiber long-period gratings

open access: yesOptics Express, 2012
We experimentally demonstrate a novel structural long-period grating by helically coiling one microfiber onto another with the relatively thicker diameter. Owing to the strong periodic modulation of the coiled microfiber to the evanescent field of the straight microfiber, a resonance transmission notch of ~16.2 dB can be induced for a compact device ...

The calculation of a two-cascade long-period fiber grating of the refractive index

open access: yesФизика волновых процессов и радиотехнические системы, 2022
A method is proposed for calculating the spectral characteristics of cascade long-period fiber gratings of the refractive index of the core based on the method of partial regions and decomposition. According to the method, the structure is represented as

Long Period Gratings Formed in Depressed Cladding Fibres [PDF]

open access: yesBragg Gratings, Photosensitivity, and Poling in Glass Fibers and Waveguides: Applications and Fundamentals, 1997
There has been a significant interest in long period gratings, primarily due to their applications in gain-flattened erbium doped fibre amplifiers [1]. Up till now, cladding modes supported by the glass-air interface of an optical fibre have been used in a forward mode coupling scheme involving also the guided fundamental mode of the optical fibre ...

Tunable Filters Based on Cascaded Long-Period Polymer Waveguide Gratings

open access: yesPhotonic Sensors, 2022
Long-period waveguide grating based filters have attracted attention due to their flexible fabrication, a variety of materials and structures, low back reflection, low insertion loss, and excellent performance in the tuning range and temperature ...

Long Period Fibre Gratings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In essence, a long period fibre grating (LPFG) is an all-fibre device with wavelength dependent loss. As a band rejection filter, all light in a spectral slice is discarded without affecting the amplitude and phase of neighbouring wavelengths, with the additional advantage of low insertion losses and minimum backreflection (Daxhelet, 2003).

Virtual long-period fiber gratings [PDF]

open access: yesSPIE Proceedings, 2004
In this paper a theoretical prediction of a new kind of in-fiber devices is presented. They behave essentially like long-period Bragg gratings except for the fact that they are not permanent but volatile. This is because these devices are not formed by the UV-induced increment of the refractive index but by the twisting of a pristine HiBi fiber.

Transverse Load and Temperature Sensing Using Multiplexed Long-Period Fiber Gratings

open access: yesPhotonics, 2020
The simultaneous measurement of transverse load and temperature using two long-period fiber gratings multiplexed in the wavelength domain is presented experimentally.

Arc-Induced Long Period Fiber Gratings [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Sensors, 2016
Long period fiber gratings produced by the electric arc technique have found an increasing interest by the scientific community due to their ease to fabricate, virtually enabling the inscription in any kind of fiber, low cost, and flexibility. In 2005 we have presented the first review on this subject.
