Glacier, permafrost and thermokarst interactions in Alpine terrain: Insights from seven decades of reconstructed dynamics of the Chauvet glacial and periglacial system (Southern French Alps)

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 48, Issue 13, Page 2595-2612, October 2023., 2023
This work presents insights on glacier‐permafrost interactions, a critical component of mountain cryosphere, which is currently poorly understood. Our study shows complex and heterogeneous dynamical changes (i.e., surface elevation changes and surface velocities) spatially co‐exist and probably impacts the hydrology of a lake outflow.

The Pretension Design of Cable Mesh considering the Large Deformation of Ring Truss

open access: yesInternational Journal of Aerospace Engineering, Volume 2023, Issue 1, 2023., 2023
The conventional pretension design of cable mesh usually takes the ring truss as a rigid body or assumes small deformation. This method needs to be more accurate in designing super large aperture antennas. A cable mesh design method considering the large deformation of the ring truss is proposed in this paper based on the flexible multibody dynamics ...

Deployment Strategy and Dynamic Analysis of Large Ring Truss Antenna

open access: yesInternational Journal of Aerospace Engineering, Volume 2022, Issue 1, 2022., 2022
The deployment strategy and dynamic analysis of the AM‐2 AstroMesh ring truss antenna reflector are studied in this paper. The rigid multibody dynamic models of the truss structures with alterable and fixed diagonal length are established, respectively, by using the natural coordinate formulation (NCF). The driving scheme and the synchronous constraint

Modeling and Analysis of a Large‐Scale Double‐Level Guyed Mast for Membrane Antennas

open access: yesMathematical Problems in Engineering, Volume 2020, Issue 1, 2020., 2020
This paper proposes a double‐level guyed membrane antenna for stiffness improvement of a large‐scale tri‐prism deployable mast using the collapsible tubular mast (CTM). Initially, the construction of the antenna and the modeling of the CTM boom are illustrated.

Estimation of the Resistivity Index via Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Log Data Based on Fractal Theory

open access: yesGeofluids, Volume 2020, Issue 1, 2020., 2020
The resistivity index is an important parameter for determining the rock saturation index. However, the saturation index changes greatly in unconventional reservoirs, which leads to oil saturation estimation with great difficulty. Hence, we try to establish the relationship between the resistivity index and log data.

Bayesian Machine Learning in Metamaterial Design: Fragile Becomes Supercompressible

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 31, Issue 48, November 28, 2019., 2019
Bayesian machine learning can predict material behavior and quantify the uncertainty of those predictions, even in the presence of manufacturing imperfections. This means that computational data‐driven design of imperfection‐sensitive materials and structures becomes possible, replacing the typical experimental trial‐and‐error process.

Minimization of Ground Vibration Test Configurations for F‐16 Aircraft by Subtractive Modification

open access: yesShock and Vibration, Volume 2019, Issue 1, 2019., 2019
The certification process of external loads designed for aircraft needs to satisfy various criteria where compatibility with existing systems is one of the essential requirements. Flight flutter testing is a critical part of a certification process that requires many preliminary studies.

Three‐Dimensional CST Parameterization Method Applied in Aircraft Aeroelastic Analysis

open access: yesInternational Journal of Aerospace Engineering, Volume 2017, Issue 1, 2017., 2017
Class/shape transformation (CST) method has advantages of adjustable design variables and powerful parametric geometric shape design ability and has been widely used in aerodynamic design and optimization processes. Three‐dimensional CST is an extension for complex aircraft and can generate diverse three‐dimensional aircraft and the corresponding mesh ...

Research on Dynamic Modeling and Application of Kinetic Contact Interface in Machine Tool

open access: yesShock and Vibration, Volume 2016, Issue 1, 2016., 2016
A method is presented which is a kind of combining theoretic analysis and experiment to obtain the equivalent dynamic parameters of linear guideway through four steps in detail. From statics analysis, vibration model analysis, dynamic experiment, and parameter identification, the dynamic modeling of linear guideway is synthetically studied.

How Do Thermal Recovery Methods Affect Wettability Alteration?

open access: yesJournal of Petroleum Engineering, Volume 2014, Issue 1, 2014., 2014
We will investigate the effect of temperature on wettability. First, we will list and summarize the different schools of thoughts from previous literature describing wettability changes for sandstone and carbonate reservoirs at elevated temperature. Next, we will describe the properties that affect wettability: how they alter wettability and how they ...
