Robinson instability and longitudinal mode coupling [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 1989 IEEE Particle Accelerator Conference, . 'Accelerator Science and Technology, 1989
K.W. Robinson's (1956) stability conditions for a beam-cavity interaction system in a synchrotron or a storage ring are rederived by using F.J. Sacherer's (1977) integral equation. The relation between the maximum stable beam current and the cavity detuning is reproduced with a correction to account for the equilibrium phase-space distribution of beam ...

Characterization of Clinical Phenotype to Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein Concentrations in Alexander Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To determine the concentration of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and plasma in Alexander disease (AxD) and whether GFAP levels are predictive of disease phenotypes. Methods CSF and plasma were collected (longitudinally when available) from AxD participants and non‐AxD controls.

Optical transmission through a polarization preserving single mode optical fiber at two Ar(+) laser wavelengths [PDF]

open access: yes
The transmission characteristics of two Ar(+) laser wavelengths through a twenty meter Panda type Polarization Preserving Single Mode Optical Fiber (PPSMOF) were measured. The measurements were done with both single and multi-longitudinal mode radiation.

Remote Assessment of Ataxia Severity in SCA3 Across Multiple Centers and Time Points

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 (SCA3) is a genetically defined ataxia. The Scale for Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) is a clinician‐reported outcome that measures ataxia severity at a single time point. In its standard application, SARA fails to capture short‐term fluctuations, limiting its sensitivity in trials.

Robust Vehicle Stability Control Using Smooth Sliding Mode and Tire Slip-Based Dynamic Control Allocation in ESC Systems [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Research and Technology in Electrical Industry
This paper presents a comprehensive study on a chattering-free sliding mode control designed to enhance vehicle lateral stability. The proposed architecture is composed of three main: an upper controller, a control allocation, and a lower controller.

Theory of solitary waves in complex plasma lattices

open access: yes, 2004
A comprehensive analytical theory for nonlinear excitations related to horizontal (longitudinal, acoustic mode) as well as vertical (transverse, optical mode) motion of charged dust grains in a dust crystal is presented.

Longitudinal oscillations in density stratified and expanding solar waveguides

open access: yes, 2012
Waves and oscillations can provide vital information about the internal structure of waveguides they propagate in. Here, we analytically investigate the effects of density and magnetic stratification on linear longitudinal magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) waves.

Clustering Algorithm Reveals Dopamine‐Motor Mismatch in Cognitively Preserved Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To explore the relationship between dopaminergic denervation and motor impairment in two de novo Parkinson's disease (PD) cohorts. Methods n = 249 PD patients from Parkinson's Progression Markers Initiative (PPMI) and n = 84 from an external clinical cohort.
