Static longitudinal stability of a hybrid airship

Proceedings of 2014 11th International Bhurban Conference on Applied Sciences & Technology (IBCAST) Islamabad, Pakistan, 14th - 18th January, 2014, 2014
Numerical simulations play a dominant role in design of experiments to get first hand knowledge about the aerodynamic behavior before the beginning of wind tunnel testing. In the present work, the static longitudinal stability characteristics of a single lobe winged-hybrid airship are investigated with two different empennages.

Longitudinal static stability analysis of hypersonic waveriders

SCIENTIA SINICA Technologica, 2014
The study of hypersonic glider design has great application value. Its longitudinal design has great difference with the airplane design. Because of its high flying altitude, hypersonic velocity and lack of horizontal tail, The traditional flight mechanics do not have specific design rule for such flight condition.

Investigation on improving longitudinal static stability of a blended wing body aircraft

CEAS Aeronautical Journal, 2021
The blended wing body (BWB) aircraft as a novel aircraft configuration has a poor longitudinal static stability. A V-tail is installed on the BWB to improve the longitudinal static stability, which achieves the limited improvements. Therefore, the BWB is investigated to further improve the longitudinal static stability with experimental tests and ...

Skid-Steer Loader Performance and Static Longitudinal Stability Analysis

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1988
<div class="htmlview paragraph">The static longitudinal stability of a skid-steer loader, as influenced by the kinematic performance bucket linkage and other vehicle operational parameters, is evaluated by means of a mathematical model and computer simulation. With the Integrated Mechanisms Program (IMP), the performance parameters for the bucket

Estimation of Static Longitudinal Stability

The Journal of the Royal Aeronautical Society, 1945
SummaryThis paper discusses the static longitudinal stability of an aircraft in the simple case when the aerodynamic derivatives are independent of speed. An outline of the basic theory of static stability is given, accompanied by a working document, giving suitable forms for the estimation of neutral points from wind tunnel tests.

Research on Longitudinal Static Stability for VFSW Tailless Configuration UAV

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2014
The Variable Forward-Swept Wing (VFSW) Tailless configuration UAV can well satisfy multipurpose demands. However, this kind of unconventional morphing aircraft lacks tail, which brings great challenge to stability analysis. The connatural aero-elasticity divergence and the strong aerodynamic coupling as well as many uncertain factors in mechanical ...

An Aircraft Longitudinal Static Stability and Control Experiment

International Journal of Mechanical Engineering Education, 1996
An experiment on aircraft longitudinal static stability and control, which is relatively easy to perform, requires minimal equipment and provides sufficiently accurate results, is described. Typical results are given for a Harrier aircraft model.

A Simplified Analysis of Static Longitudinal Stability

Journal of the Aeronautical Sciences, 1937
The first section of this paper describes the development of a single family of curves which illustrates the variation of the pitching moment coefficient with the lift coefficient for all wings and for all e.g. locations. The second consists of an analysis of the characteristics of these curves and their derivatives in conjunction with the known ...

A Method for Analyzing Power-on Static Longitudinal Stability

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1970
<div class="htmlview paragraph">A general method for analyzing static, longitudinal, stick-free, and stick-fixed stability is presented. The method allows for analysis of several configurations and effects of power on the stability of the airplane.
