Mechanisms of parasite‐mediated disruption of brain vessels

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Parasites can affect the blood vessels of the brain, often causing serious neurological problems. This review explains how different parasites interact with and disrupt these vessels, what this means for brain health, and why these processes matter. Understanding these mechanisms may help us develop better ways to prevent or treat brain infections in ...

Study of The Flying and Handling Qualities of a Glider-Type Aircraft for Instruction Purposes

open access: yesCiencia y Poder Aéreo, 2019
The goal of this paper is to conduct a study on the flying and usability attributes of a glider-type aircraft used for instruction. For the development of this project, we propose a dynamic model where we introduce small disturbances to calculate the ...

Numerical investigation of the gyroplane longitudinal static stability for the selected stabilizer angles

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2018
Stability is a key aspect for aircraft as it directly affects its flight balance and manoeuvre capabilities. This numerical research with Ansys Fluent investigates an airflow around a model of the designed gyrocopter – Aduster to examine its static longitudinal stability for the given ranges of horizontal stabilizer angles and angles of attack.

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

Emerging role of ARHGAP29 in melanoma cell phenotype switching

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study gives first insights into the role of ARHGAP29 in malignant melanoma. ARHGAP29 was revealed to be connected to tumor cell plasticity, promoting a mesenchymal‐like, invasive phenotype and driving tumor progression. Further, it modulates cell spreading by influencing RhoA/ROCK signaling and affects SMAD2 activity. Rho GTPase‐activating protein

Gut microbiota diversity is prognostic in metastatic hormone receptor‐positive breast cancer patients receiving chemotherapy and immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this exploratory study, we investigated the relationship between the gut microbiota and outcome in patients with metastatic hormone receptor‐positive breast cancer, treated in a randomized clinical trial with chemotherapy alone or chemotherapy in combination with immune checkpoint blockade.

Landau damping of transverse head-tail instabilities with a pulsed electron lens in hadron synchrotrons

open access: yesPhysical Review Accelerators and Beams, 2022
A pulsed electron lens produces a betatron tune shift along a hadron bunch as a function of the longitudinal coordinates, which is a longitudinal detuning. An example of transverse detuning is the tune shifts due to octupole magnets. This paper considers

Biomechanical testing of different fixation techniques for intraoperative proximal femur fractures: a technical note

open access: yesInternational Biomechanics, 2022
Intraoperative proximal femoral fractures (IPFF) represent a rare but challenging complication of total hip arthroplasties. They usually occur as a longitudinal split.
