Restrictions on curved cosmologies in modified gravity from metric considerations

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2015
This study uses very simple symmetry and consistency considerations to put constraints on possible Friedmann equations for modified gravity models in curved spaces. As an example, it is applied to loop quantum cosmology.

Breathing Life Flows Through Chaos: Reconfiguring the Effectiveness of Five‐Finger Breathing in Mental Health First Aid

open access: yesAnthropology of Consciousness, Volume 37, Issue 1, Spring 2026.
ABSTRACT This article questions the moral and causal certainties attributed to the clinical assumptions of the breath of chaos. Instead of seeing chaos as an exceptional intruder that causes problems in health, I suggest that chaos underlines the changing conditions of health and it's an intrinsic part of breathing and everyday life. I discuss the five‐

Non‐standard loop quantum cosmology

open access: yesAnnalen der Physik, 2010
AbstractWe present results concerning the nature of the cosmological big bounce (BB) transition within the loop geometry underlying loop quantum cosmology (LQC). Our canonical quantization method is an alternative to the standard LQC. An evolution parameter we use has clear interpretation both at classical and quantum levels.

Variational methods in loop quantum cosmology [PDF]

open access: yesEurophysics Letters (EPL), 2006
An action functional for the loop quantum cosmology difference equation is presented. It is shown that by guessing the general form of the solution and optimizing the action functional with respect to the parameters in the guessed solution one can obtain approximate solutions which are reasonably good.

Topological‐defect‐featured order evolution of liquid crystals

open access: yesResponsive Materials, Volume 4, Issue 1, February 2026.
This review provides a comprehensive introduction to the recent advances in the topological‐defect‐featured order evolution of liquid crystal (LCs), including the stimulus‐driven dynamics of defects in nematic LCs, topological defect morphological transformation during phase transitions, advanced strategies for regulating and applications of ...

Loop quantum cosmology scalar field models [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Geometric Methods in Modern Physics, 2018
In this work, we use the Loop Quantum Cosmology (LQC) modified scalar–tensor reconstruction techniques in order to investigate how bouncing and inflationary cosmologies can be realized. With regard to the inflationary cosmologies, we shall be interested in realizing the intermediate inflation and the Type IV singular inflation, while with regard to ...

Starobinsky potential and power suppression in hybrid loop quantum cosmology

open access: yesPhysics Letters B
We study the effect on the primordial tensor power spectrum of varying the number of e-folds during slow-roll inflation in Loop Quantum Cosmology with a Starobinsky potential. Using the hybrid quantization approach, we derive the effective mass governing

New Hamiltonian constraint operator for loop quantum gravity

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2015
A new symmetric Hamiltonian constraint operator is proposed for loop quantum gravity, which is well defined in the Hilbert space of diffeomorphism invariant states up to non-planar vertices with valence higher than three. It inherits the advantage of the

Is Computing with Light All You Need? A Perspective on Codesign for Optical Artificial Intelligence and Scientific Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 8, Issue 1, January 2026.
This perspective article considers what computations optical computing can and should enable. Focusing upon free‐space optical computing, it argues that a codesign approach whereby materials, devices, architectures, and algorithms are simultaneously optimized is needed.

Qualitative study in loop quantum cosmology [PDF]

open access: yesClassical and Quantum Gravity, 2017
This work contains a detailed qualitative analysis, in General Relativity and in Loop Quantum Cosmology, of the dynamics in the associated phase space of a scalar field minimally coupled with gravity, whose potential mimics the dynamics of a perfect fluid with a linear Equation of State (EoS).
