Spontaneous compactification in 2D induced quantum gravity

open access: yes, 1992
Spontaneous compactification ---on a $R^1\times S^1$ background--- in 2D induced quantum gravity (considered as a toy model for more fundamental quantum gravity) is analyzed in the gauge-independent effective action formalism.

Black Hole Evolution Traced Out with Loop Quantum Gravity

open access: yesPhysics, 2018
Loop quantum gravity—a theory that extends general relativity by quantizing spacetime—predicts that black holes evolve into white holes.

Soft Robots Proprioception Through Stretchable Laser‐Induced Graphene Strain Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates the potential of laser‐induced graphene and silicone sensors for soft pneumatic grippers’ proprioception. The sensors are thin, stretchable, mechanically transparent, and easy to integrate. Finite‐element method analysis identifies the finger's neutral bending plane and four sensor positions are tested to validate the ...

Loop Quantum Gravity: Four Recent Advances and a Dozen Frequently Asked Questions

open access: yes, 2007
As per organizers' request, my talk at the 11th Marcel Grossmann Conference consisted of two parts. In the first, I illustrated recent advances in loop quantum gravity through examples.

Thermally Responsive Architected Actuators with Programmable Shape Morphing and Tunable Stiffness

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
A tunable‐stiffness architected morphing structure enables programmable shape transformation and load‐bearing functionality through thermal activation. By tessellating rigid particles with shape memory alloy‐based soft connectors, the system achieves simultaneous morphing and stiffness modulation.

Observational Exclusion of a Consistent Quantum Cosmology Scenario

open access: yes, 2015
It is often argued that inflation erases all the information about what took place before it started. Quantum gravity, relevant in the Planck era, seems therefore mostly impossible to probe with cosmological observations.

Symmetry Breaking Metamaterial Sleeve Actuators

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Metamaterial sleeves are designed to impart to a soft inflatable structure, nonlinear characteristics within the pressure–volume domain. By tuning the unit cells of the metamaterial sleeve, symmetry breaking is achieved during the inflation–deflation cycle.

Autonomous Sorting of Beads in a 3D Environment Using Levitating Magnetic Microrobots

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
An untethered, magnetically actuated microrobot autonomously collects, weighs, classifies, and sorts passive particles in 3D environments. The system integrates motion control, trajectory planning, and action scheduling to perform fully automated operations.

Chiral Induction and Memory via Supramolecular Deracemization

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
The helical chirality of a dynamic crown‐ether switch can, by light‐ or redox‐switching to a prochiral state, be erased and subsequently stereoselectively re‐formed by relaxation in the presence of a point‐chiral ammonium guest. This unique supramolecular deracemization enables facile transfer and stable memory of chiral information. Abstract Chirality

Intersecting Quantum Gravity with Noncommutative Geometry - a Review

open access: yesSymmetry, Integrability and Geometry: Methods and Applications, 2012
We review applications of noncommutative geometry in canonical quantum gravity. First, we show that the framework of loop quantum gravity includes natural noncommutative structures which have, hitherto, not been explored.
