Social Co‐OS: Cyber‐human social Co‐operating system

open access: yesIET Cyber-Physical Systems, 2023
The novel concept of a Cyber‐Human Social System (CHSS) and a diverse and pluralistic ‘mixed‐life society’ is proposed, wherein cyber and human societies commit to each other.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

From lattice gauge theories to hydrogen atoms

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2015
We construct canonical transformations to obtain a complete and most economical realization of the physical Hilbert space Hp of pure SU(2)2+1 lattice gauge theory in terms of Wigner coupled Hilbert spaces of hydrogen atoms.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

A network of hyperloops

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2023
In this paper we complete the exploration of connected components of the space of BPS Wilson loops in three-dimensional N $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = 4 Chern-Simons-matter theory on S 3.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Visiting Index: Supporting decision-making on Open Urban Spaces

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Geography, 2022
This Open urban space functions as the stage of the city where public life unfolds. These spaces, which provide traffic networks, communication nodes and common spaces for play and relaxation and play a key factor in shaping cities and enhancing urban ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Mathematical Structure of Loop Quantum Cosmology: Homogeneous Models

open access: yesSymmetry, Integrability and Geometry: Methods and Applications, 2013
The mathematical structure of homogeneous loop quantum cosmology is analyzed, starting with and taking into account the general classification of homogeneous connections not restricted to be Abelian.
