Flow Visualization of a Miniature Loop Thermosyphon

Experimental Heat Transfer, 2013
This research aims to study the internal flow visualization of a miniature loop thermosyphon for several ratios of the internal diameter of the condenser section to the internal diameter of the evaporator section and temperature. The miniature loop thermosyphon will separate gas and condensed liquid, which flow in opposite directions.

Loop thermosyphons for cooling of electronics

Eighteenth Annual IEEE Semiconductor Thermal Measurement and Management Symposium. Proceedings 2002 (Cat.No.02CH37311), 2003
Recent innovations to loop thermosyphon (LTS) design are anticipated to have a significant impact on electronics thermal solutions. Future electronics systems including high-density desktop computers, multi-processor rack mounted servers, and telecommunications cabinets are reaching volumetric thermal densities beyond the limits of direct air-cooling ...

Cooling System with Nanofluidic Loop Thermosyphon

Transactions of the Korean Society of Mechanical Engineers B, 2006
The present study shows the experimental and modeling results of the cooling system using nanofludic loop thermosyphon. the experimental results show that nanofluid is not effective for small scale cooling system. The heat transfer performance is not much improved with the current small scale loop system comparing with the convectional water based loop

Instability of a two-phase loop thermosyphon

KSME International Journal, 2002
The instability of two-phase loop thermosyphons was investigated experimentally and analytically. Three orifice type inserts were used to study the effect of change in the pressure drop in the flow channel of the TLT on the flow instability and temperature fluctuation.

Open-Loop Thermosyphons with Geological Applications

Journal of Heat Transfer, 1979
Natural convection flows in open-loop thermosyphons are examined. The thermosyphons are embedded in an impermeable medium which is heated uniformly from below. The thermosyphon loops charge and discharge fluid at a horizontal boundary of the medium. The impermeable medium is of high thermal conductivity and the temperature of both the medium and the ...

On the Oscillatory Instability of Closed-Loop Thermosyphons

Journal of Heat Transfer, 1985
The stability of natural convection flows in single-phase closed-loop thermosyphons is investigated. The thermosyphons considered in the present analysis are fluid-filled tubes bent into rectangular shapes. The fluid is heated over the lower horizontal segment and cooled over the upper horizontal segment.

A new analysis of the closed loop thermosyphon

International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 1984
Abstract This theoretical study addresses the nature of motions in a toroidal fluid loop oriented in the vertical plane and subject to rather general internal heating and/or thermal wall conditions. It is shown that previous one-dimensional models of flow in the loop can be transformed, without further approximation, to a ‘master’ problem of three ...

Double-Loop Thermosyphon for Electric Components Cooling

IEEE Transactions on Components, Packaging and Manufacturing Technology, 2014
A double-loop thermosyphon for cooling electric components is presented. It consists of two loop thermosyphons in series, both driven by gravity. The evaporator of the first loop is in contact with the heating blocks providing the power. The condenser of the first loop thermosyphon comprises a heat exchanger plate, in close contact with a second heat ...

Heat Transfer Behavior of a Rectangular Thermosyphon Loop

Journal of Heat Transfer, 1988
The thermal performance of a rectangular thermosyphon loop was studied. The analysis, using a one-dimensional approximation, the conventional friction factor, and an empirical correlation for the overall heat transfer in the cooler, was shown to be able to predict accurately the loop performance at steady state or approaching steady state, if the ...
