General numerical solution of integral equation for long‐range low‐frequency groundwave propagation over irregular terrain

open access: yesIET Microwaves, Antennas &Propagation, Volume 18, Issue 12, Page 1148-1155, December 2024.
A general numerical solution of the IE is presented to predict long‐range low‐frequency groundwave propagation over irregular terrain. The great advantage of the resulting algorithm is that it can freely use non‐uniform grid sizes in the computation area without loss of accuracy.

The path to Panarctic: The emergence of an extractive frontier in Arctic Canada, 1948–1958

open access: yesCanadian Geographer / Le géographe canadien, Volume 68, Issue 4, Page 513-528, Winter / hiver 2024.
Abstract From the late 1940s to the late 1950s, the Geological Survey of Canada (GSC) turned vigorously to the Arctic archipelago, expanding and confirming the colonial premise that the islands of the High Arctic were an extractive frontier for oil and gas.

Use of a drone equipped with microthermal sensors to estimate the quality of the atmosphere for astronomical observation

open access: yesWeather, Volume 79, Issue 10, Page 331-337, October 2024.
Abstract A drone was used to obtain thermal profiles to estimate atmospheric turbulence for the purposes of astronomical observation. The first 150 metres above ground level were studied in two areas in the south‐east of the Iberian Peninsula. The preliminary results are promising regarding the use of drones as a suitable means of transport for ...

Bathymetric LiDAR and Semi‐Automated Feature Extraction Assist Underwater Archaeological Surveys

open access: yesArchaeological Prospection, Volume 31, Issue 2, Page 171-186, April/June 2024.
ABSTRACT Critical data concerning key developments in global human history now lie submerged on continental shelves where investigations confront significant challenges. Whereas underwater excavations and surveys are expensive and weather dependent and require specialized training and equipment, remote sensing methods can improve chances for success ...

Identifying marine invasion threats and management priorities through introduction pathway analysis in a remote sub‐Antarctic ecosystem

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 14, Issue 4, April 2024.
South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands (SGSSI) currently has only one documented established non‐native species. However, the combination of a rapidly changing climate and an increase in tourism activities make these previously isolated islands now at risk, and in need of evidence‐based knowledge of key locations and vectors for assessing ...

The incorporation of dimethylaminoethanol and dimethylaminoisopropyl alcohol into Phormia regina phospholipids*

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1963
The effect of replacing dietary choline with dimethylaminoethanol and dimethylaminoisopropyl alcohol on the larval phospholipids of the blowfly Phormia regina was investigated. It was found that these compounds were incorporated into the phospholipids to

Transmission of low-energy scalar waves through a traversable wormhole

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2020
We study the scattering of low-energy massless and massive minimally coupled scalar fields by an asymptotically flat traversable wormhole. We provide a comprehensive treatment of this problem offering analytic expressions for the transmission and ...
