Lorentz force particle analyzer [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Physics, 2016
A new contactless technique is presented for the detection of micron-sized insulating particles in the flow of an electrically conducting fluid. A transverse magnetic field brakes this flow and tends to become entrained in the flow direction by a Lorentz force, whose reaction force on the magnetic-field-generating system can be measured.

Directional vortex motion guided by artificially induced mesoscopic potentials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Rectangular pinning arrays of Ni dots define a potential landscape for vortex motion in Nb films. Magnetotransport experiments in which two in-plane orthogonal electrical currents are injected simultaneously allow selecting the direction and magnitude of

Magneto-Seebeck effect in an ITO/PEDOT:PSS/Au thin-film device

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2016
This article reports giant magnetic field effects on the Seebeck coefficient by exerting a Lorentz force on charge diffusion based on vertical multi-layer ITO/PEDOT:PSS/Au thin-film devices.

Spreading behavior of molten solder with alternative currents under the action of electromagnetic ultrasound

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2022
A novel electromagnetic ultrasonic-assisted spreading with molten Sn−9Zn solder on the surface of SiC ceramics was developed. The distribution and strength of the magnetic induction of an alternating magnetic field, the strength of the static magnetic ...

Coupled electromagnetic and mechanical modeling and detection of buried objects

open access: yesApplications in Engineering Science, 2022
A time domain finite element (FE) framework was used to investigate the coupled electromagnetic (EM) and mechanical behavior of buried target systems. The coupling of the EM and mechanical fields is through using the Lorentz Force as the body force in ...

Design of a Voice Coil Motor Actuator With L-Shape Coils for Optical Zooming Smartphone Cameras

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
This paper proposes a voice coil motor (VCM) with a novel electromagnetic structure for smartphone OZ actuators, and the advantages of this novel design are its long displacement, compact size, and more powerful and stable Lorentz force. These advantages

Geometrical approach to the proton spin decomposition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We discuss in detail and from the geometrical point of view the issues of gauge invariance and Lorentz covariance raised by the approach proposed recently by Chen et al. to the proton spin decomposition. We show that the gauge invariance of this approach

A Lorentz force MEMS magnetometer

open access: yes2016 IEEE SENSORS, 2016
This paper presents a Lorentz force magnetometer with a MEMS resonator structure as a sensor. Magnetometer composed of a resonator and a grill structure. The grill structure reduces the heat generation due to the current required to generate the Lorentz force.

Hall Coefficient of Equilibrium Supercurrents Flowing inside Superconductors

open access: yes, 2009
We study augmented quasiclassical equations of superconductivity with the Lorentz force, which is missing from the standard Ginzburg-Landau and Eilenberger equations. It is shown that the magnetic Lorentz force on equilibrium supercurrents induces finite
