Disappearance of peculiarly large atomic displacement in the high‐temperature phase of magnetite with substitution of Fe2+ by Ni2+ and Mn2+

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section B, Volume 82, Issue 1, Page 98-107, February 2026.
Structures of Fe2.992O4 (magnetite), Fe3–x–yMnx□yO4 (x ≤ 0.980) and Fe3–x–yNix□yO4 (x ≤ 0.513, □ denotes point defects) are examined at room temperature. The observed disappearance of peculiarly large mean‐square displacement at the B site along the 3 axis in [111] is interpreted as a disappearance of phonons interact with electrons in the high ...

Vector-Field Domain Walls

open access: yes, 2009
We argue that spontaneous Lorentz violation may generally lead to metastable domain walls related to the simultaneous violation of some accompanying discrete symmetries. Remarkably, such domain wall solutions exist for space-like Lorentz violation and do

Spatial distribution of 6s2 lone electron pair in Pb4Na(PO4)3 and stereochemical activity of the 6s2 electron cloud in lead‐bearing apatites

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section B, Volume 82, Issue 1, Page 68-77, February 2026.
In lacunary apatite structure‐type Pb4Na(PO4)3, residual density attributable to the deformed 6s2 electron cloud is found in the vicinity of A2‐site Pb2+ on regular A2 triangle normal to c. Systematic comparison on the size of the A2 triangle with other apatite‐type compounds indicates limited stereochemical activity of the orbital.Single crystals of ...

LORENTZ SYMMETRY FROM LORENTZ VIOLATION IN THE BULK [PDF]

open access: yesThe Eleventh Marcel Grossmann Meeting, 2008
We consider the mechanism of spontaneous symmetry breaking of a bulk vector field to study signatures of bulk dimensions invisible to the standard model confined to the brane. By assigning a non-vanishing vacuum expectation value to the vector field, a direction is singled out in the bulk vacuum, thus breaking the bulk Lorentz symmetry.

Non-Minimal Coupling to a Lorentz-Violating Background and Topological Implications

open access: yes, 2005
The non-minimal coupling of fermions to a background responsible for the breaking of Lorentz symmetry is introduced in Dirac's equation; the non-relativistic regime is contemplated, and the Pauli's equation is used to show how an Aharonov-Casher phase ...

Lorentz-Violating Supergravity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The standard forms of supersymmetry and supergravity are inextricably wedded to Lorentz invariance. Here a Lorentz-violating form of supergravity is proposed. The superpartners have exotic properties that are not possible in a theory with exact Lorentz symmetry and microcausality.

Lorentz violation alleviates gravitationally induced entanglement degradation

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
Lorentz violation is a significant phenomenon in the framework of quantum physics, with implications for fundamental symmetries. In this paper, we explore the effects of Lorentz violation on quantum entanglement through a black hole spacetime that is ...

Squeezing the Parameter Space for Lorentz Violation in the Neutrino Sector with Additional Decay Channels

open access: yesParticles, 2020
The hypothesis of Lorentz violation in the neutrino sector has intrigued scientists for the last two to three decades. A number of theoretical arguments support the emergence of such violations, first and foremost for neutrinos, which constitute the ...

Bianchi type I cosmology with a Kalb–Ramond background field

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2022
An effect of the Lorentz symmetry breaking is pointed out in the cosmological context. Using a Bianchi I geometry coupled to the Kalb–Ramond field, a consequence of the Lorentz symmetry violation is indicated by a different rate of expansion in a given ...

Massless and Massive Vector Goldstone Bosons in Nonlinear Quantum Electrodynamics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The spontaneous Lorentz invariance violation (SLIV) developing in QED type theories with the nonlinear four-vector field constraint $A_{\mu}^{2}=M^{2}$ (where $M$ is a proposed scale of the Lorentz violation) is considered in the case when the internal U(
