Local Earthquake Tomography at Los Humeros Geothermal Field (Mexico) [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, 2020
AbstractA passive seismic experiment using 25 broadband and 20 short‐period stations was conducted between September 2017 and September 2018 at Los Humeros geothermal field, an important natural laboratory for superhot geothermal systems in Mexico. From the recorded local seismicity, we derive a minimum 1‐D velocity model and obtain 3‐D Vp and Vp/Vs ...

Financial Performance Analysis of the Geothermal Power Station of Los Humeros, Mexico

SSRN Electronic Journal, 2022
This work presents the analysis of the financial performance of the Los Humeros geothermal power station. Currently, the power station has 96 MW of installed capacity with 68 MW under operation. The study was performed using two scenarios. The first scenario took the current business scheme, the so-called Vesting contract and the second scenario ...

Geochemistry of Los Humeros Caldera, Puebla, Mexico

Bulletin Volcanologique, 1982
Geochemistry of Pliocene to recent volcanic rocks from Los Humeros caldera (19°30′ N – 19°50′ N and 97°15° W – 97°35′ W) in East-Central mexico is described. The volcanic rocks from this area seem to represent both alkali and high-alumina basalt series, or both calcalkaline and high-K calc-alkaline sequences.

Soil degassing at the Los Humeros geothermal field (Mexico)

Journal of Volcanology and Geothermal Research, 2018
Abstract The Los Humeros geothermal field is the third most important producer of geothermal electricity (70 MW) in Mexico. Geothermal fluids are hosted in fractured andesitic lavas and mostly consist of high enthalpy steam with limited water content (vapor fraction > 0.9).

An updated conceptual model of the Los Humeros geothermal reservoir (Mexico)

Journal of Volcanology and Geothermal Research, 2003
An analysis of production and reservoir engineering data of 42 wells from the Los Humeros geothermal field (Mexico) allowed obtaining the pressure and temperature profiles for the unperturbed reservoir fluids and developing 1-D and 2-D models for the reservoir.

CO2 emission assessment of the geothermal power station Los Humeros, Mexico

Geothermics, 2022
This work presents the estimation of the CO2eq emissions of the geothermal power station in Los Humeros, Mexico. The calculation takes the emissions of the CO2 contained on the extracted geothermal brine plus the CO2 footprint by the power station construction. The carbon footprint estimation is based on technical reports generated by the owner company.
