An updated conceptual model of the Los Humeros geothermal reservoir (Mexico)
Journal of Volcanology and Geothermal Research, 2003An analysis of production and reservoir engineering data of 42 wells from the Los Humeros geothermal field (Mexico) allowed obtaining the pressure and temperature profiles for the unperturbed reservoir fluids and developing 1-D and 2-D models for the reservoir.

Eruption rates and compositional trends at Los Humeros Volcanic Center, Puebla, Mexico
Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, 1984The Los Humeros volcanic center, located 180 km east of Mexico City, is one of several Pleistocene silicic centers in the “back arc” portion of the Mexican Neovolcanic Belt. The eruptive history at Los Humeros suggests that average eruptive rates increased with time and exceeded rates of regeneration of differentiated magma.

Chemical variations in hydrothermal minerals of the Los Humeros geothermal system, Mexico
Geothermics, 2002The Los Humeros geothermal system is composed of more than 2200 m of Quaternary altered volcanic rocks and an underlying Cretaceous sedimentary sequence. The low salinity of the fluids discharged at present (Na+ and Cl− concentrations 1800 m). Petrographic examination of cuttings from five wells and temperature data indicate at least two stages of ...

Geochemistry of Los Humeros Caldera, Puebla, Mexico
Bulletin Volcanologique, 1982Geochemistry of Pliocene to recent volcanic rocks from Los Humeros caldera (19°30′ N – 19°50′ N and 97°15° W – 97°35′ W) in East-Central mexico is described. The volcanic rocks from this area seem to represent both alkali and high-alumina basalt series, or both calcalkaline and high-K calc-alkaline sequences.

Soil degassing at the Los Humeros geothermal field (Mexico)
Journal of Volcanology and Geothermal Research, 2018Abstract The Los Humeros geothermal field is the third most important producer of geothermal electricity (70 MW) in Mexico. Geothermal fluids are hosted in fractured andesitic lavas and mostly consist of high enthalpy steam with limited water content (vapor fraction > 0.9).

Chemical Variations in Chlorite at the Los Humeros Geothermal System, Mexico
Clays and Clay Minerals, 1998AbstractThe chemical composition of hydrothermal chlorite was determined by means of more than 200 electron microprobe analyses (EMPA) in almost all of the 70 chlorite-bearing samples taken from 5 boreholes in a study of the active geothermal system of Los Humeros, Mexico.

3D Electrical Resistivity Distribution in Los Humeros and Acoculco Geothermal Zones, Mexico
First EAGE Workshop on Geothermal Energy in Latin America, 2021Summary The Los Humeros geothermal field and the Acoculco geothermal prospect in Mexico are identified as two key locations to advance the understanding of unconventional geothermal resources. In the Los Humeros geothermal field, temperatures higher than 400C have been found, being a suitable case study of a super-hot system.
