CO2 emission assessment of the geothermal power station Los Humeros, Mexico

open access: yesGeothermics, 2022
This work presents the estimation of the CO2eq emissions of the geothermal power station in Los Humeros, Mexico. The calculation takes the emissions of the CO2 contained on the extracted geothermal brine plus the CO2 footprint by the power station construction. The carbon footprint estimation is based on technical reports generated by the owner company.

Hydrothermal Signatures Discovered in Outcropping Rocks of the Los Humeros Geothermal Field (Mexico): A Geochemometric Exploration Case Study

open access: yesGeofluids
Hydrothermal geochemical signatures in outcropping rock samples of the super-hot Los Humeros geothermal field were discovered by using an integrated geochemometric study of the mobility of components (major oxides) and trace elements.

Local earthquake tomography at the Los Humeros geothermal field, Mexico [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, 2020
<p>The GEMex* project is a recently finalized European-Mexican collaboration that aimed to improve the understanding of two geothermal fields: Acoculco and Los Humeros Volcanic Complex . These sites are located in the Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt, a region that hosts numerous active volcanoes

Gas geochemistry in modeling geothermal reservoirs [PDF]

open access: yesGeofísica Internacional, 2002
Geochemical models for Los Azufres and Los Humeros geothermal reservoirs are discussed. Los Azufres is defined as vapour-liquid (VAP-LIQ) and Los Humeros is mainly a vapour-dominated field.

Anatomy of the magmatic plumbing system of Los Humeros Caldera (Mexico): implications for geothermal systems [PDF]

open access: yesSolid Earth, 2020
Understanding the anatomy of magma plumbing systems of active volcanoes is essential not only for unraveling magma dynamics and eruptive behaviors but also to define the geometry, depth, and temperature of the heat sources for geothermal exploration. The

Production forecast and estimation of the recovery factor of the Los Humeros geothermal field, Mexico

open access: yesGeothermal Energy, 2021
Production data from the Los Humeros geothermal field in Mexico are used to develop a forecast method for operation of the field in the future. This method supports understanding the limitations of sustainably exploiting a geothermal reservoir.

Financial Performance Analysis of the Geothermal Power Station of Los Humeros, Mexico

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2022
This work presents the analysis of the financial performance of the Los Humeros geothermal power station. Currently, the power station has 96 MW of installed capacity with 68 MW under operation. The study was performed using two scenarios. The first scenario took the current business scheme, the so-called Vesting contract and the second scenario ...

Effect of needle orientation during arteriovenous access puncture on needed compression time after hemodialysis: A randomized controlled trial

open access: yesHemodialysis International, Volume 27, Issue 4, Page 364-369, October 2023., 2023
Abstract Background There are two techniques for puncturing an arteriovenous fistula: one where the needle is inserted bevel up and then rotated to a bevel down position, and another where the needle is inserted bevel down. The aim of this study was to compare these two methods of needle insertion on minimum compression time required for hemostasis ...

Research and Development on Coatings and Paints for Geothermal Environments: A Review

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, Volume 8, Issue 18, September 25, 2023., 2023
Geothermal power production, by harnessing the natural heat in the earth's crust, provides clean energy, with year‐round availability. However, corrosion, erosion, and scaling of power plant components can hinder energy production. In his review paper, the first of its kind since 1980, a detailed overview of research studies on coatings developed to ...
