The thermal diffusivity of MgO‐C refractories is highly sensitive to sample preparation and processing procedures. In this article, the effects of coking sequence, machining conditions, structural inhomogeneity, and graphite coating application on measurements using laser flash apparatus are systematically investigated.

Control of Recoil Losses in Nanomechanical SiN Membrane Resonators [PDF]
In the context of a recoil damping analysis, we have designed and produced a membrane resonator equipped with a specific on-chip structure working as a "loss shield" for a circular membrane.

It is shown that laser ablation pretreatment under oxygen‐free conditions enables copper–aluminium bonding at significantly lower deformation degrees and improved properties compared to mechanical brushing. Laser ablation further increases interface contact area and induces favourable residual stress states and microstructural compatibility ...

When pump-turbines operate under off-design conditions, complex internal vortex flows often arise, leading to hydraulic instabilities and increased energy losses. Traditional hydraulic loss evaluation methods fail to quantitatively link vortex structures

Electrodynamics of Josephson vortex lattice in high-temperature superconductors
We studied response of the Josephson vortex lattice in layered superconductors to the high-frequency c-axis electric field. We found a simple relation connecting the dynamic dielectric constant with the perturbation of the superconducting phase, induced ...

Superconducting cosmic strings — Energy loss by plasma dissipation
Abstract We analyse the interactions of superconducting cosmic strings (SCS) with the plasma in the early Universe from the point of view of the cosmological scenario proposed by Ostriker, Thompson and Witten. The plasma dissipation is an efficient energy loss mechanism of a loop, especially in the early stages of its evolution and at the cusps.

Dissipative Binding of Lattice Bosons through Distance-Selective Pair Loss [PDF]
We show that in a gas of ultra cold atoms distance selective two-body loss can be engineered via the resonant laser excitation of atom pairs to interacting electronic states. In an optical lattice this leads to a dissipative Master equation dynamics with Lindblad jump operators that annihilate atom pairs with a specific interparticle distance.

Stabilization of L‐PBF Ni50.7Ti49.3 under low‐cycle loading was investigated. Recoverable strain after cycling was dependent on the amount of applied load. Recovery ratio was 53.4% and 35.1% at intermediate and high load, respectively. The maximum total strain reached 10.3% at a high load of 1200 MPa.

ENERGY DISSIPATION CHARACTERISTICS OF NON-LINEAR NORMAL VIBRATION CONTACT INTERFACE
The energy dissipation characteristics of the non-linear normal vibration contact system of the interface have important theoretical and engineering significance for describing the dynamic mechanism of the interface.Based on Hertz contact theory, the ...
