3D (Bio) Printing Combined Fiber Fabrication Methods for Tissue Engineering Applications: Possibilities and Limitations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Biofabrication aims at providing innovative technologies and tools for the fabrication of tissue‐like constructs for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications. By integrating multiple biofabrication technologies, such as 3D (bio) printing with fiber fabrication methods, it would be more realistic to reconstruct native tissue's ...

Dissipation-managed soliton in a quasi-one-dimensional Bose-Einstein condensate

open access: yes, 2006
We use the time-dependent mean-field Gross-Pitaevskii equation to study the formation of a dynamically-stabilized dissipation-managed bright soliton in a quasi-one-dimensional Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC). Because of three-body recombination of bosonic

Analysis of Copper Sleeve Magnetic Coupling Operation Characteristic and Design of Heat Dissipation Structure

open access: yesJixie chuandong, 2018
The magnetic coupler produces eddy current in the conductor by permanent magnet magnetic field to realize the transmission of torque and rotational speed, while the eddy current loss will lead to permanent magnet temperature rising.

Research on Loss Characteristics Based on the Vibration Law of Granular Assembly

open access: yesShock and Vibration
Particle damping technology is a typical passive vibration damping technology. In order to further explore the energy dissipation characteristics of particle dampers under different excitation, the relationship between internal vibration state and energy

Prospects of Electric Field Control in Perpendicular Magnetic Tunnel Junctions and Emerging 2D Spintronics for Ultralow Energy Memory and Logic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Electric control of magnetic tunnel junctions offers a path to drastically reduce the energy requirements of the device. Electric field control of magnetization can be realized in a multitude of ways. These mechanisms can be integrated into existing spintronic devices to further reduce the operational energy.

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

ENERGY LOSS AND WEAR IN SPHERICAL OBLIQUE ELASTIC IMPACTS

open access: yesFacta Universitatis. Series: Mechanical Engineering, 2019
Percussive and erosive wear by repetitive impacting of solid particles damages surfaces even at low impact velocities. As the impact wear is often directly related to the energy loss during the collision and therefore to the coefficients of normal and ...

Double Helical Plasmonic Antennas

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Plasmonic double helical antennas funnel circularly polarized light to the nanoscale, offering strong chiroptical interaction and directional light emission. Extending a single helix design tool, this study combines numerical modeling with experimental validation, revealing large, broadband dissymmetry factors in the visible range.

Dissipation loss in interdigital and combline filters

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 1966
A method is described of calculating the losses in interdigital and combline filters due to the finite conductivity of the materials. Factors which degrade the theoretical unloaded Q factor of the individual elements are mentioned, and a practical example is given, showing excellent agreement between theoretical and measured results.
