Loss Minimization Based Keyword Distillation

2004
Keywords provide rich semantic information for documents. It benefits many applications such as topic retrieval, document clustering, etc. However, there still exist a large amount documents without keywords. Manually assigning keywords to existing documents is very laborious. Therefore it is highly desirable to automate the process.

Loss minimization in synchronous motors

Proceedings of the IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics, 2002
It is known that if an electrical machine does not operate at nominal load, nominal magnetic flux is not required. This means that if magnetic flux is reduced, iron losses can be reduced also. On the contrary, copper losses at the stator are increased for a given constant load.

Averting And Minimizing Loss

2006
Abstract This chapter is concerned with ancillary heads of cover under which an assured can recover in respect of losses and liabilities incurred voluntarily or by law in order to avert or minimize loss. It addresses the recoverability of sue and labour expenses, of losses and liabilities arising in general average, and of liability for ...

Minimization of distribution grid losses by consumption coordination

2013 IEEE International Conference on Control Applications (CCA), 2013
In this work, we address the problem of optimizing the electrical consumption patterns for a community of closely located households, with a large degree of flexible consumption, and further some degree of local electricity production from solar panels.

Children with Minimal Hearing Loss

Intervention in School and Clinic, 2002
Children with minimal hearing loss are often not identified, and the educational implications of their hearing disability are unrealized. Because children with special learning problems have been shown to have a higher incidence of hearing loss than typical learners (Flexer, Millin, & Brown, 1990), special educators should be particularly aware of

Loss minimization in DC drives

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 1991
A method for determining the optimal DC machine excitation for loss minimization is presented. The proposed method may be implemented by using either analog or digital techniques. The method is simple, and its implementation does not affect significantly the cost, the complexity, and the dynamics of the DC drive.

Minimal gains, minimal losses, but mostly stagnation

This report is part of the Transformation Index BTI 2024. The regional analysis covers the period from February 1, 2021 to January 31, 2023. The BTI assesses the transformation toward democracy and a market economy as well as the quality of governance in 137 countries. More on the BTI at https://www.bti-project.org.
