"Viscotaxis"- directed migration of mesenchymal stem cells in response to loss modulus gradient. [PDF]

open access: yesActa Biomater, 2021
Directed cell migration plays a crucial role in physiological and pathological conditions. One important mechanical cue, known to influence cell migration, is the gradient of substrate elastic modulus (E). However, the cellular microenvironment is viscoelastic and hence the elastic property alone is not sufficient to define its material characteristics.

Automated dynamic Young's modulus and loss factor measuremeats [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1979
A progressive wave apparatus featuring an automated data processor is described. The apparatus accurately determines the propagation constants of an extensional acoustic wave by exciting one end of a strip of material while the other end is suspended under constant tension.

DYNAMIC DUROMETER MEASUREMENT OF YOUNG'S MODULUS AND LOSS FACTOR [PDF]

open access: yesLe Journal de Physique IV, 1992
The Shore hardness tester is used extensively throughout industry to determine the static modulus of materials. The new apparatus described here extends the capability of an indentor type tester into the dynamic regime, and provides a measurement of the dynamic shear or Young's modulus and loss factor as a function of frequency.

The nature of the β -peak in the loss modulus of amorphous solids [PDF]

open access: yesEPL (Europhysics Letters), 2012
Glass formers exhibit, upon an oscillatory excitation, a response function whose imaginary and real parts are known as the loss and storage moduli respectively. The loss modulus typically peaks at a frequency known as the frequency which is associated with the main relaxation mechanism of the super-cooled liquid.

Shear modulus loss as damage indicator of structural integrity in bonded joints

open access: yesIngenierias, 2022
Damage in single lap joints under shear load was assessed. Specimens were tested in accordance with ASTM D1002-10(2019). Controls were taken on adhesive and surface preparation, adhesive thickness, and load-specimen alignment. Digital Image Correlation was used to measure stresses over the adhesive, and shear modulus variation and percent of damage ...

Rheological Properties of Honey from Burkina Faso: Loss Modulus and Complex Viscosity Modeling [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Food Properties, 2016
[EN] This study evaluated the rheological behaviour of Burkina Faso honey and the use of exponential and polynomial models to predict the influence of chemical composition and temperature on the viscoelastic parameters: complex viscosity (ç*) and loss modulus (G ).

The Effect of Residual Stress on Coupling Power Loss of VCSEL Modulus [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Advanced Network, Monitoring and Controls, 2016
Abstract In this article, the effect of residual stress on active region misalignment of laser light sources for vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL) modulus has been studied. The post-weld-shift variation of active region introduced from the residual stress distribution variation for different VCSEL solder joints, i.e.

Pressure loss modulus for correlation of steady state Delta p across uniformly distributed-loss devices [PDF]

open access: yes30th Joint Propulsion Conference and Exhibit, 1994
A dimensionless group, called a Pressure Loss Modulus (N{sub PL}), is introduced which, in conjunction with an appropriately defined Reynolds number, is of considerable engineering utility in correlating steady-state {Delta}P vs. flow calibration data and subsequently as a predictor, using the same or a different fluid, in uniformly distributed ...

Softening and Residual Loss Modulus of Jammed Grains under Oscillatory Shear in an Absorbing State

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2022
From a theoretical study of the mechanical response of jammed materials comprising frictionless and overdamped particles under oscillatory shear, we find that the material becomes soft, and the loss modulus remains finite even in an absorbing state where any irreversible plastic deformation does not exist.

Mechanical Loss and Elastic Modulus Associated with Phase Transitions in PLZT Ceramics [PDF]

open access: yesLe Journal de Physique IV, 1996
The phase transition in lanthanum modified lead zirconate-titanate ceramic of 6/60/40 is studied by mechanical loss Q-1 and elastic modulus measurements. The shear elastic modulus measured from 50°C to 250°C shows that the Curie temperature is located at 180°C for the transition from cubic to rhombohedral phase.
