"Viscotaxis"- directed migration of mesenchymal stem cells in response to loss modulus gradient. [PDF]
Directed cell migration plays a crucial role in physiological and pathological conditions. One important mechanical cue, known to influence cell migration, is the gradient of substrate elastic modulus (E). However, the cellular microenvironment is viscoelastic and hence the elastic property alone is not sufficient to define its material characteristics.

Automated dynamic Young's modulus and loss factor measuremeats [PDF]
A progressive wave apparatus featuring an automated data processor is described. The apparatus accurately determines the propagation constants of an extensional acoustic wave by exciting one end of a strip of material while the other end is suspended under constant tension.

Degradation of Epoxy–Particles Composites Exposed to UV and Gamma Radiation
In the design and fabrication of any structural system for space application, balance between mass, stiffness and strength is crucial. Structures in space environments are exposed to high radiation levels and thermal shock, due to the sun irradiance and ...

DYNAMIC DUROMETER MEASUREMENT OF YOUNG'S MODULUS AND LOSS FACTOR [PDF]
The Shore hardness tester is used extensively throughout industry to determine the static modulus of materials. The new apparatus described here extends the capability of an indentor type tester into the dynamic regime, and provides a measurement of the dynamic shear or Young's modulus and loss factor as a function of frequency.

The nature of the β -peak in the loss modulus of amorphous solids [PDF]
Glass formers exhibit, upon an oscillatory excitation, a response function whose imaginary and real parts are known as the loss and storage moduli respectively. The loss modulus typically peaks at a frequency known as the frequency which is associated with the main relaxation mechanism of the super-cooled liquid.

Lightweight and Flexible Graphene Foam Composite with Improved Damping Properties
As an elastomer, PDMS can effectively suppress vibration in various fields in a certain temperature range by its viscoelastic behavior in the vitrification transition region, but the vibration isolation effect is poor at high temperature.
