Multi–server loss queueing system with random volume customers, non–identical servers and a limited sectorized memory buffer [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Polish Academy of Sciences: Technical Sciences, 2023
In the present paper, the model of multi–server queueing system with random volume customers, non–identical (heterogeneous) servers and a sectorized memory buffer has been investigated.

Performance evaluation of unreliable system with infinite number of servers [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Polish Academy of Sciences: Technical Sciences, 2020
In the paper, we investigate queueing system M/G/∞ with non–homogeneous customers. As non–homogenity, we mean that each customer is characterized by some arbitrarily distributed random volume.

Do people care about loss probabilities? [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Risk and Uncertainty, 2022
AbstractIn a series of experiments, we provide evidence that people pay special attention to the probability of losing. We first analyze this behavior in the typically used one-shot choice tasks. We then extend our analysis to repeated decisions in choice tasks, as well as allocation and investment tasks.

Influence of the call forwarding busy service on the traffic distribution in the group of telephone channels [PDF]

open access: yesYugoslav Journal of Operations Research, 2017
In this paper we consider the influence of a call forwarding service on the traffic process in modern telecommunication networks. We analyse in detail only the case when the called user is busy.

Queueing Systems with Random Volume Customers and their Performance Characteristics

open access: yesJournal of Information and Organizational Sciences, 2021
In the paper, we consider non-classical queueing systems with non-homogeneous customers. The non-homogeneity we treat in the following sense: in systems under consideration, we characterize each customer by random capacity (volume) that can have an ...

Simulation Studies of Link Group in Elastic Optical Networks Used in Internet of Things Solutions

open access: yesTransport and Telecommunication, 2023
The elastic optical network (EON) solution is the most flexible in terms of allocation of resources for various traffic streams transported in core part (edge-cloud) of Internet of Things (IoT) networks.

Advanced Considerations Concerning Impact of Applied Call Admission Control Mechanisms on Traffic Characteristics in Elastic Optical Network Nodes

open access: yesJournal of Telecommunications and Information Technology, 2023
Over the past few years, a significant increase in network traffic volumes has been observed. The ever growing bandwidth demands mean that a reliable and optimum service level needs to be ensured in communication systems for specific traffic categories.

Parking Lots Information Acquisition Algorithm Based on Information Loss Probability [PDF]

open access: yesJisuanji gongcheng, 2020
With the increasing number of private cars in the city,a real-time access to parking lots information is of great importance to reduce traffic congestion and invalid cruising. Therefore,in the hybrid internet with different cars, this paper proposes a ...

Probability Distribution Of Fire Losses [PDF]

open access: yesFire Safety Science, 2003
Data on fire losses in Hotels and Motels collected by the National Fire Incident Reporting System in the USA between 1983-1995 are statistically analysed. It is shown, using as illustration the year 1988 data, that the non-zero fire losses closely follow a lognormal distribution.
