A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Probability of loss reversal in Australia

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Management, 2016
Investors in loss firms assess the likelihood of these firms reverting to profit (i.e. loss reversal). This research examines the factors useful for predicting future loss reversal in the Australian market. Specifically, it focuses on loss firms’ investment activities, in addition to factors examined in previous US literature.

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Minimizing transmission loss using inspired ant colony optimization and Markov Chain Monte Carlo in underwater WSN environment

open access: yesJournal of Ocean Engineering and Science, 2019
In Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks (UWSNs), the most important challenging issues are propagation delay, high error probability, high latency, high communication cost, limited bandwidth, limited memory, low packet delivery ratio, and transmission ...

Blood‐based proteomic profiling reveals context‐dependent changes in BCL2‐associated signaling during taxane therapy in breast cancer patients

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Chemotherapy side effects significantly impact cancer survivors' quality of life. Using protein levels in blood samples from breast cancer patients before and after 12 weeks of taxane treatment, we detected treatment‐dependent changes in calcium signaling and aging pathways associated with cancer recurrence.

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

A Parametric Analysis of Prospect Theory's Functionals for the General Population [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper presents the results of an experiment that completely measures the utility function and probability weighting function for different positive and negative monetary outcomes, using a representative sample of N = 1935 from the general public ...

Reliability-based evaluation of scour around dual bridge piers

open access: yesGrađevinar, 2019
The causes of uncertainty involved in temporal variation of the depth of cavern formation due to clear water scouring at dual piers with tandem arrangement are identified in this study. In an example, the probability of failure induced by scouring around

Spinal Cord Infarction Versus Idiopathic Transverse Myelitis: Clinical, Radiological, and Functional Insights From a Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Spinal cord infarction (SCI) is a rare but devastating myelopathy, characterized by a high disability rate and an unfavorable prognosis. It has often been underdiagnosed and misdiagnosed as idiopathic transverse myelitis (ITM). This study aimed to describe the clinical features, radiological biomarkers, treatments, and functional ...

User-optimal state-dependent routeing in parallel tandem queues with loss

open access: yes, 2006
We consider a system of parallel, finite tandem queues with loss. Each tandem queue consists of two single-server queues in series, with capacities C\ and C2 and exponential service times with rates \x \ and ?jl2 for the first and second queues ...
