Lee-Carter goes risk-neutral: an application to the Italian annuity market [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We consider a class of stochastic intensities of mortality that generalizes the model proposed by Lee and Carter (1992), allowing general diffusions to drive the mortality time-trend.

3D Anodic Alumina Nanoarchitectures: A Decade of Progress from Foundational Science to Functional Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ordered three‐dimensional anodic aluminum oxide (3D‐AAO) nanoarchitectures with longitudinal and transverse pores enable architecture‐driven metamaterials. The review maps fabrication advances, including hybrid pulse anodization, and shows how 3D‐AAO templates tailor properties across magnetism, energy, catalysis, and sensing.

Claim Prediction and Premium Pricing for Telematics Auto Insurance Data Using Poisson Regression with Lasso Regularisation

open access: yesRisks
We leverage telematics data on driving behavior variables to assess driver risk and predict future insurance claims in a case study utilising a representative telematics sample. In the study, we aim to categorise drivers according to their driving habits

Artificial Neural Networks in Insurance Loss Reserving

open access: yesAdvances in Intelligent Systems Research, 2006
In this paper we analyse insurance data using Artificial Neural Networks (ANN)[1]. In particular, we use ANN for the problem of Loss Reserving. Loss reserving is the practice of estimating the future payments for the claims which have occurred on an insurance portfolio.

A Mechanistic Study of Bio‐Based Nanotemplated Carbon Nanofibers Derived From Water Processable Lignin Blends for Sustainable Energy Storage Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
As‐spun carbon materials produced from Lignosulfonate, gelatin, and alginate, selected for water solubility, and ability to produce templated sustainable carbon nanostructures. Gelatin and alginate are sacrificial during thermal processing, allowing the production of engineered high surface area nanostructures, which are further characterized for ...

Optimal strategies for pricing general insurance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Optimal premium pricing policies in a competitive insurance environment are investigated using approximation methods and simulation of sample paths. The market average premium is modelled as a diffusion process, with the premium as the control function ...

Composition Restoration Enables Recycling of Mixed‐Cation, Mixed‐Halide Perovskites for Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Compositional drift during processing prevents the direct recycling of mixed‐cation, mixed‐halide perovskites. This work introduces a framework to quantitatively audit and restore recovered materials, enabling closed‐loop recycling with efficiencies comparable to virgin perovskites.
