Lossless Intra Coding in HEVC with 3-tap Filters

open access: yes, 2016
This paper presents a pixel-by-pixel spatial prediction method for lossless intra coding within High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC). A well-known previous pixel-by-pixel spatial prediction method uses only two neighboring pixels for prediction, based on ...

An Extended Krylov Subspace Method for Decoding Edge‐Based Compressed Images by Homogeneous Diffusion

open access: yesNumerical Linear Algebra with Applications, Volume 33, Issue 1, February 2026.
ABSTRACT The heat equation is often used to inpaint dropped data in inpainting‐based lossy compression schemes. We propose an alternative way to numerically solve the heat equation by an extended Krylov subspace method. The method is very efficient with respect to the computation of the solution of the heat equation at large times.

Correlation between Channel State and Information Source with Empirical Coordination Constraint

open access: yes, 2014
Correlation between channel state and source symbol is under investigation for a joint source-channel coding problem. We investigate simultaneously the lossless transmission of information and the empirical coordination of channel inputs with the symbols

Implementation issues in source coding [PDF]

open access: yes
An edge preserving image coding scheme which can be operated in both a lossy and a lossless manner was developed. The technique is an extension of the lossless encoding algorithm developed for the Mars observer spectral data.
