Lossless Compression of Hyperspectral Imagery
2011 First International Conference on Data Compression, Communications and Processing, 2011In this paper we review the Spectral oriented Least SQuares (SLSQ) algorithm : an efficient and low complexity algorithm for Hyper spectral Image loss less compression, presented in [2]. Subsequently, we consider two important measures : Pearson's Correlation and Bhattacharyya distance and describe a band ordering approach based on this distances ...

LOSSLESS COMPRESSION FOR TEXT AND IMAGES
International Journal of High Speed Electronics and Systems, 1997Most data that is inherently discrete needs to be compressed in such a way that it can be recovered exactly, without any loss. Examples include text of all kinds, experimental results, and statistical databases. Other forms of data may need to be stored exactly, such as images—particularly bilevel ones, or ones arising in medical and remote-sensing ...

A method for lossless compression of images
Proceedings of the 4th international conference conference on Computer systems and technologies e-Learning - CompSysTech '03, 2003Compression of Images is one of the most actual and dynamic developing fields of Informatics and Informational Technologies. The suggested method for lossless compression of images requires that the image is presented as a set of 256 image levels, which must contain pixels from the initial image with identical intensity values. An algorithm containing 4 ...

Lossless Compression of Cytometric Data
Cytometry Part A, 2019AbstractNowadays, most cytometrists apply lossless compression by storing their FCS files in ZIP archives. Unfortunately, ZIP only achieves modest space savings in cytometric data, due to DEFLATE being used as the underlying lossless compression algorithm (LCA).

Lossless compression of medical images
[1991] Computer-Based Medical Systems@m_Proceedings of the Fourth Annual IEEE Symposium, 2002Lossless compression of magnetic resonance images is reviewed using both the theoretical and implementation models. The compression level of selected algorithms (Lempel-Ziv and Huffman) are compared against the first-order, second-order, and conditional entropies.

Hypergraph lossless image compression
International Conference on Information Technology: Coding and Computing (ITCC'05) - Volume II, 2005Hypergraphs are a very powerful tool and can represent many problems. In this paper we define a new image representation based on hypergraphs. This representation conducts to a new lossless compression algorithm for images called HLC. We present the algorithm and give some experimental results proving its efficiency. Finally we show that this algorithm

Lossless Compression of Climate Data
2015In this paper, we address the problem of lossless, offline compression of climate data. We propose a technique for compression of climate data using combination of differential encoding and Huffman coding. This technique gives lossless data compression and reduces the number of bits required to encode a set of symbols, thereby leading to high ...

Adaptive lossless video compression
SPIE Proceedings, 2004In this paper, we describe a new lossless compression algorithm for color video sequences. Our approach is to exploit both spatial and temporal redundancies in the video sequence by developing a new adaptive algorithm. By adaptive selection between spatial and temporal prediction we show that our scheme is better than state-of-the-art lossless ...

Lossless Compression of Microarray Images
2006 International Conference on Image Processing, 2006Microarray experiments are characterized by a massive amount of data in the form of images. Since the interest in microarray technology is growing nowadays, a large number of microarray images is currently being produced. In this paper, we present a lossless method for efficiently compress microarray images based on arithmetic coding using a 3D context

Lossless and near-lossless compression of still color images
Proceedings 1999 International Conference on Image Processing (Cat. 99CH36348), 2003This paper proposes a unified coding algorithm for lossless and near-lossless color image compression that exploits the correlations between RGB signals. For lossless coding, a reversible color transform is proposed that removes the correlations between RGB signals while avoiding any finite word length limitation.
