Lossless compression of seismic data
[1992] Conference Record of the Twenty-Sixth Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems & Computers, 2003A description and comparative study of three different waveform data compression schemes are presented. All three schemes are lossless, that is, decompression results in exact recovery of the original data samples. The first technique uses linear prediction followed by residue sequence encoding.

Lossless Compression of Climate Data
2015In this paper, we address the problem of lossless, offline compression of climate data. We propose a technique for compression of climate data using combination of differential encoding and Huffman coding. This technique gives lossless data compression and reduces the number of bits required to encode a set of symbols, thereby leading to high ...

LZAC lossless data compression
Proceedings DCC 2002. Data Compression Conference, 2003Summary form only given. This paper presents LZAC, a new universal lossless data compression algorithm derived from the popular and widely used LZ77 family. The objective of LZAC is to improve the compression ratios of the LZ77 family while still retaining the family's key characteristics: simple, universal and fast in decoding and economical in memory

Lossless Satellite Data Compression
2013Satellite sensors produce enormous data volumes, especially hyperspectral sensors that acquire over hundreds of images of narrow-wavelength bands and produce an image cube. Thus, a lot of effort has been made to study moreefficient ways to compress satellite images or image cubes. Compression techniques can be classified into three types: 1.

Lossless audio data compression
2007Lossless audio compression is a rapidly developing field with a strict stipulation: the decompressed sample information must match the original audio data. A common strategy applied by modern compression systems is a "prediction/residual " structure. This strategy generates a series of estimates for audio samples and applies coding schemes to encode ...

Lossless compression of hydroacoustic image data
IEEE Journal of Oceanic Engineering, 1997Despite rapid progress in improving mass-storage density and digital communication system performance, compression of hydroacoustic image data is still significant in many engineering and research areas since it can overcome data storage and transmission bandwidth limitations.

Lossless and Lossy Data Compression
1997Data compression (or source coding) is the process of creating binary representations of data which require less storage space than the original data [7, 14, 15]. Lossless compression is used where perfect reproduction is required while lossy compression is used where perfect reproduction is not possible or requires too many bits.

Lossless compression of electroencephalographic (EEG) data
1996 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems. Circuits and Systems Connecting the World. ISCAS 96, 2002The lossless compression of electroencephalographic (EEG) data is of great interest to the biomedical research community. In this paper, a two-stage technique of lossless compression involving decorrelating the sample points of the EEG signal and then entropy coding the resulting signal is examined.

Lossless compression of ultrasound RF data
2010 IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium, 2010We propose an efficient algorithm for lossless compression of ultrasound sensor data. The algorithm is primarily designed to operate on the transducers RF data after the analog-to-digital converter and before the receiver beamformer. Nevertheless, it could be used after the beamformer if high correlation exists between successive channels. The proposed
