Inverse Design of Mirror‐Symmetric Disordered Systems for Broadband Perfect Transmission

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
This work introduces an inverse design approach to achieve broadband perfect wave transmission in mirror‐symmetric disordered media. Leveraging symmetry simplifies optimization and enables control of multiple reflectionless states. Experiments in microwave waveguides confirm the design of exceptional points, bandpass filters, and broadband quasi ...

Edge-Based and Prediction-Based Transformations for Lossless Image Compression

open access: yesJournal of Imaging, 2018
Pixelated images are used to transmit data between computing devices that have cameras and screens. Significant compression of pixelated images has been achieved by an “edge-based transformation and entropy coding” (ETEC) algorithm recently proposed by ...

Highly Versatile Real‐Time Optical Noise Filtering Through Temporal Cloaking

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
Conventional bandpass filtering strategies may be insufficient for recovering optical waveforms under extremely noisy conditions. We demonstrate a temporal‐cloaking denoising strategy enabled by the temporal Talbot effect, which concentrates the coherent signal of interest into short temporal slots while broadband noise remains temporally spread.

512‐Fold Rotational Super‐Resolution via Four‐Photon High‐Dimensional Structured Light

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
A quantum rotation sensor that combines four photon states and high dimensional structured light ‐ characterized by a topological charge of 128 ‐ demonstrates a 512‐fold angular super‐resolution. ABSTRACT Structured light enhances quantum information processing by combining quantum states of light and shaped wavefronts.

Frozen Differential Scattering in Reconfigurable Complex Media

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
A localized perturbation universally results in a rank‐one update of the scattering matrix of any complex medium. The resulting differential output wavefront is “frozen”: its spatial pattern is fixed (agnostic to the input wavefront). Experiments with a programmable‐metasurface‐parametrized wireless link validate frozen differential scattering and ...
