Lot streaming multiple jobs in a flow shop

International Journal of Production Research, 2011
In this article we consider the advantages of applying lot streaming in a multiple job flow-shop context. The lot streaming process of splitting jobs into sublots to allow overlapping between successive operations has been shown to reduce makespan and thus increase customer satisfaction.

Analysis on multi-stage lot streaming: The effect of transfer

Computers & Industrial Engineering, 2012
Shortening manufacturing lead time and then gaining time-based competitive advantages are the goals that many more manufacturing companies want to gain. Lot streaming is one of the important methodologies that can be applied by many companies to gain such advantages. In this paper, we focus on the effects of different types of transfer (i.e., preceding-

Lot Streaming Techniques

2019
In batch manufacturing, the items are groupedinto batches. These batches are treated as individual jobs and they are notsplitted. However, if batch sizes are large, it may be beneficial to splitthese batchesinto smaller transfer lots which is known as lot streaming.

Lot streaming in M-1 hybrid flowshops

2014
This paper introduces the balanced-workload idea to solve the multi-job lot streaming problem in two-stage hybrid flow shops with m identical machines at stage 1 and a single machine at stage 2. From the worst case analysis and computational experiments to the single job problem, this idea is proved to be a very close estimation for most cases.

Lot Streaming Schedules in Flow Shops

1995
Lot streaming is the process of splitting a job or lot to allow overlapping between successive operations in a multistage system. The use of transfer lots usually results in a shorter makespan and lower work-in-process inventory than without it. In the thesis, we first study the discrete version of schedules which minimize the makespan for a single job
