Heuristics for Multilevel Lot-Sizing with a Bottleneck
Management Science, 1986In this paper we present a heuristic method, based on Lagrangian relaxation, for multilevel lot-sizing when there is a single bottleneck facility. A series of Lagrangian relaxations (one for each item in the product structure) is imbedded in a branch and bound procedure.

Lot-sizing deals with the optimal timing and level of procurement in production and inventory management. This article introduces some basic continuous- and discrete-time lot-sizing models with associated mathematical formulations. Furthermore, we describe the directions in which the basic models can be extended.

Lot-Sizing with Start-Up Times
Management Science, 1998Many practical applications of lot-sizing and scheduling problems involve start-up times. Operations research literature contains but few studies of lot-sizing models that take start-up times explicitly into account. Here, we review some of these studies, discuss the models and their complexity, and we propose further models. We consider in particular

Title: Lot-sizing problem Author: Ondřej Kafka Department: Department of probability and mathematical statistics Supervisor: RNDr. Martin Branda, Ph.D. Abstract: In the present work, we define the basic concepts of lot-sizing. We introduce Wagner-Whitin's dynamic lot size problem and derive a dynamic programming algorithm for the solution. Next we look

The lot-sizing problem concerns a manufacturer that needs to solve a production planning problem. The producer must decide at which points in time to set up a production process, and when he/she does, how much to produce. There is a trade-off between inventory costs and costs associated with setting up the production process at some point in time ...
