The Capacitated Lot-Sizing Problem with Linked Lot Sizes
Management Science, 2003In this paper a new mixed integer programming (MIP) model formulation and its incorporation into a time-oriented decomposition heuristic for the capacitated lot-sizing problem with linked lot sizes (CLSPL) is proposed. The solution approach is based on an extended model formulation and valid inequalities to yield a tight formulation.

In this chapter, we discuss lot-sizing heuristics that can be used to manage inventory of a single item whose demand varies from period to period. Because the demand is not constant the classical EOQ formula cannot be applied. Several heuristics are found in literature.

Lot Sizing with Randomly Graded Yields
Operations Research, 1997We consider a single inventory item that is graded into one of two quality levels after production. The proportion of grade one units produced in a lot is a random variable assumed to follow the lognormal distribution. Demands for grade 2 may be filled with grade 1 product, but not vice versa.

Lot sizing with carbon emission constraints
European Journal of Operational Research, 2013Abstract This paper introduces new environmental constraints, namely carbon emission constraints, in multi-sourcing lot-sizing problems. These constraints aim at limiting the carbon emission per unit of product supplied with different modes. A mode corresponds to the combination of a production facility and a transportation mode and is characterized ...

Production Lot Sizing with Machine Breakdowns
Management Science, 1992Economic lot sizing and batching models often assume reliable manufacturing facilities. In this research, we focus on the effects of machine breakdowns and corrective maintenance on the economic lot sizing decisions. Two production control policies are proposed for coping with these stochastic interferences. The first policy assumes that production of

Lot sizing in the forging industry considering lot size dependent tool wear
Production Engineering, 2017Lot sizing is an important task of production planning and control: basis of lot sizes are order change costs and costs for storage. Models for lot sizing do not consider lot size dependent maintenance costs. However, for a forging company the tool wear is very important, because the tooling costs represent a major part in the production cost.

Lot Size Scheduling using Fuzzy Numbers
International Transactions in Operational Research, 1995Due to imprecision that is often inherent in the estimates of future demand for various products in a batch type production system, there are cases where the lot sizing problem may be more naturally treated using fuzzy concepts. Triangular fuzzy sets may be employed in order to represent qualitative estimates that are expressed linguisticaly.

Throughput-Oriented Lot Sizing
CIRP Annals, 1990Abstract Lot sizing is one of the problems the production manager has constantly to decide on in his daily business. The everlasting discussion about the “optimal” lot size reveals that the influence of the lot size distribution on flexibility, lead time, work in process, due time performance and manufacturing cost is not known exactly in a general ...
