Transcriptomic stress responses in Vaccinium spp. F1 hybrids: Implications for temperature‐resilient cranberry breeding using a crop wild relative

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Climate extremes threaten the sustainability of cranberry production, a culturally and economically important North American crop. This study demonstrates that wild cranberries (Vaccinium oxycoccos) harbor genetic variation that may enhance cold stress resilience when introduced into cultivated cranberry through hybridization.

Epistemic diversity and the politics of knowledge in plant disease management: Insights from the Xylella fastidiosa epidemic in southern Italy

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Xylella fastidiosa is a major plant pathogen affecting crops such as grapes, citrus, almonds, and olives, with potentially severe consequences for agricultural production and rural livelihoods worldwide. This paper examines the conflict around the management of the X. fastidiosa outbreak affecting olive trees in southern Italy.

The relationship between equatorial wave interaction and heavy rainfall in Southeast Asia

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
This study examines the statistical relationship between co‐occurring equatorial waves and heavy rainfall in Southeast Asia. Heavy rainfall is more closely related to combined wave activity than to individual waves in many regions of Southeast Asia. The figure shows GPM–IMERG rainfall (shading) and ERA5 850‐hPa winds (vectors) composited on days when ...

Numerical analysis of the geophysical parameter sensitivity on the multimode Love wave dispersion curves

open access: yesJournal of Physics Communications
The characteristics of multimode Love wave dispersion curves are dependent on various geophysical parameters, namely shear wave velocity (SWV), layer thickness and density.

Sentipensar [Feel‐Thinking] Cultivates Collective Scientific Sensemaking and Worldbuilding Within and Beyond Ecological Despair

open access: yesScience Education, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Educating youth about environmental and climate justice is crucial in realizing a sustainable and flourishing future. Yet this can be challenging given the intense eco‐emotions youth experience and express while learning about these consequential realities and their implications.

Dispersion of SH and Love Waves [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Physics, 2014
A mathematical model for analyzing both Love waves and horizontally polarized shear surface waves (SH-waves) propagating in stratified media with monoclinic symmetry is worked out. Analytic and numerical solutions for SH and Love waves obtained by applying the Modified Transfer Matrix (MTM) method and a special complex formalism, are presented ...
