Love waves in a nonlocal elastic media with voids

Journal of Vibration and Control, 2019
The propagation of Love-type waves in a nonlocal elastic layer with voids resting over a nonlocal elastic solid half-space with voids has been studied. Dispersion relations are derived using appropriate boundary conditions of the model.

A Love-wave ice detector

1999 IEEE Ultrasonics Symposium. Proceedings. International Symposium (Cat. No.99CH37027), 1999
The propagation of Love-waves is greatly affected by the physical properties of the substance present at the surface of the waveguide through which the waves propagate. In this contribution we investigate the applicability of Love waves for the realization of a micro detector which monitors the phase transition of water to ice.

Array‐Based Teleseismic Love Wave Tomography

Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, 2022
AbstractFundamental mode Love waves from earthquakes can be contaminated by higher modes, which can affect the accuracy of phase velocity measurements. If such contaminations are not well dealt with, models of Earth's interior structures based on Love waves could be significantly biased.

Microstructural and viscous liquid loading effects on the propagation of love waves in a piezomagnetic layered structure

, 2019
The gist of the present study is to unfold the veiled characteristics of the Love-type wave propagation through a piezomagnetic (PM) material overlying a semi-infinite couple stress substrate, under the viscous liquid (Newtonian) loading.

Magneto-elastic love waves

pure and applied geophysics, 1970
The propagation of Love waves under the influence of an externally applied magnetic field is studied. The general phase velocity equation is derived and two special cases when the magnetic field is aligned with and transverse to the direction of wave propagation are discussed.

Love waves and primary stress

Bulletin of the Seismological Society of America, 1975
Abstract The influence of primary stress upon the propagation of Love waves in a welded layer and half-space is examined by means of the theory of nonlinear elasticity. It is shown that the dispersion equation for this case can be cast into the form appropriate in the absence of stress, provided certain rescaling substitutions are ...

Surface-wave dispersion spectrum inversion method applied to Love and Rayleigh waves recorded by distributed acoustic sensing

Geophysics, 2020
Recently, distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) has been applied to shallow seismic structure imaging providing dense spatial sampling at a relatively low cost. DAS on a standard straight fiber-optic cable mostly records axial dynamic strain, which makes it
