Low Cost Hand-Tracking Devices to Design Customized Medical Devices
2015This paper concerns the development of a Natural User Interface (NUI) for lower limb prosthesis design. The proposed solution exploits the Leap Motion device to emulate traditional design tasks manually performed by the prosthetist. We first illustrate why hand-tracking devices can be adopted to design socket of lower limb prosthesis using virtual ...

Privacy threats in low-cost people counting devices
Proceedings of the 15th International Conference on Availability, Reliability and Security, 2020As evident from an in-depth analysis of the state of the art concerning device tracking through Wi-Fi probes and MAC addresses, these techniques represent an increasingly relevant privacy threat. In this paper we provide design and implementation details of a low-cost and low-power people counter based on the Espressif ESP8266 board, and we explicitly ...

Low-cost devices for quantum cryptography
Frontiers in Optics 2008/Laser Science XXIV/Plasmonics and Metamaterials/Optical Fabrication and Testing, 2008We review our low-cost and short-range quantum cryptography system designed to exchange keys between a hand-held device and a fixed terminal such as an ATM. Performance metrics and use scenarios will be described.

Low cost manufacture of microwave devices
The 10th IEEE International Symposium on Electron Devices for Microwave and Optoelectronic Applications, 2003The changes in the science, the technology, the industry and the markets over the last decade are forcing a revision the focus of research that is now most appropriately undertaken in the United Kingdom. These changes are reviewed in the context of microwave devices.

Low Cost Assistive Listening Device
Language, Speech, and Hearing Services in Schools, 1986This paper describes the use of a low cost, portable, hardwire, assistive listening device. The unit is battery-operated with flexible features. It enabled students to monitor their own verbal productions better and enhanced the use of their residual hearing. The components for this unit are easy to assemble and readily available from local electronics

Thread Based Devices for Low-Cost Diagnostics
2012The need for low-cost diagnostic devices, both for developing and industrial countries, has led to the search for inexpensive matrixes that will allow the performance of analytical assays. One approach uses paper to create multiple microfluidic channels which allow analytes in urine or blood to flow to different detection zones the device.

The Digital Signage Systems using some computer devices are widely used for displaying some dynamic information, unlike wall ads that are unchanged for a certain period. At the replacement time of our university's digital signage system, we need to implement cost effective digital signage system. Therefore, we developed a brand-new style of the digital

Low cost CIS device processing
AIP Conference Proceedings, 1997CIS films were grown on soda-lime glass/Mo substrates using a low cost, non-vacuum technique. Morphology of the resulting layers was improved and solar cells with 12.4% total area efficiency were demonstrated on these films. A submodule of about 25 cm2 area was also fabricated with a conversion efficiency of 8.17%. Work is now in progress to grow films
