Developing a Cloud-Based Air Quality Monitoring Platform Using Low-Cost Sensors [PDF]

open access: yesSensors
Conventional air quality monitoring has been traditionally carried out in a few fixed places with expensive measuring equipment. This results in sparse spatial air quality data, which do not represent the real air quality of an entire area, e.g., when ...

A Low-Cost Optoacoustic Sensor for Environmental Monitoring [PDF]

open access: yesSensors, 2021
Attention to Black Carbon (BC) has been rising due to its effects on human health as well its contribution to climate change. Measurements of BC are challenging, as currently used devices are either expensive or impractical for continuous monitoring. Here, we propose an optoacoustic sensor to address this problem.

Calibrating networks of low-cost air quality sensors [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Measurement Techniques, 2022
Ambient fine particulate matter (PM2.5) pollution is a major health risk. Networks of low-cost sensors (LCS) are increasingly being used to understand local-scale air pollution variation.

Low cost security for sensor networks [PDF]

open access: yes2013 International Symposium on Network Coding (NetCod), 2013
We design and evaluate a lightweight encryption protocol suitable for sensor networks, that enables weak security in the presence of passive eavesdroppers. At every communication round, our protocol creates a key between each sensor node and the sink, by appropriately mixing and coding information packets that the nodes passively overhear.
