Vehicle localization with low cost radar sensors
Autonomous vehicles rely on GPS aided by motion sensors to localize globally within the road network. However, not all driving surfaces have satellite visibility. Therefore, it is important to augment these systems with localization based on environmental sensing such as cameras, lidar and radar in order to increase reliability and robustness.

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Field Evaluation of Low-Cost Particulate Matter Sensors for Measuring Wildfire Smoke
Until recently, air quality impacts from wildfires were predominantly determined based on data from permanent stationary regulatory air pollution monitors. However, low-cost particulate matter (PM) sensors are now widely used by the public as a source of

INVESTIGATION OF LOW-COST PIEZOELECTRIC FORCE SENSOR
The use of piezoelectric force sensors is well-established in industrial systems and devices, but their adoption in consumer products has been limited due to the high cost of implementation as well as complex peripheral electronics. This paper proposes an alternative approach to force sensing using commonly available piezoelectric buzzer elements ...

A Low Cost Sensors Approach for Accurate Vehicle Localization and Autonomous Driving Application
Autonomous driving in public roads requires precise localization within the range of few centimeters. Even the best current precise localization system based on the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) can not always reach this level of precision ...

Derivation and characterization of retinal pigment epithelium from urine‐derived iPSCs
Age‐related macular degeneration causes vision loss via RPE dysfunction and loss. Traditional iPSC therapies rely on invasive biopsies, limiting scalability. Here, we utilize urine‐derived stem cells as an accessible source to generate u‐iPSCs, successfully differentiated into pigmented RPE. This “Urine‐to‐Retina” platform provides a promising path for

Comparison of different low-cost sensors for structural health monitoring
Recently, the need for Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) and inspection is growing as a result of the increasing age of the structural stock worldwide. SHM includes bringing into use a sensor or an array of sensors into an engineered structure.
