HIGH AND LOW FREQUENCY OSCILLATIONS IN DRUG EPIDEMICS [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 2006
We extend the two-dimensional model of drug use introduced in [Behrens et al., 1999, 2000, 2002] by considering two additional states that represent in more detail newly initiated ("light") users' response to the drug experience. Those who dislike the drug quickly "quit" and briefly suppress initiation by others.

Integrated genomic and proteomic profiling reveals insights into chemoradiation resistance in cervical cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A comprehensive genomic and proteomic analysis of cervical cancer revealed STK11 and STX3 as a potential biomarkers of chemoradiation resistance. Our study demonstrated EGFR as a therapeutic target, paving the way for precision strategies to overcome treatment failure and the DNA repair pathway as a critical mechanism of resistance.

A Robust Design Method for Ultra-Low-Frequency Oscillation Suppression Control in Hydro–Photovoltaic Complementary Systems

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
Aiming at the problem of ultra-low-frequency oscillation (ULFO) in power systems, with an oscillation frequency lower than 0.1 Hz, an oscillation suppression control method is proposed. Firstly, the mathematical modeling of the system is carried out, and

Experimental demonstration of a dual-frequency laser free from anti-phase noise [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
A reduction of more than 20 dB of the intensity noise at the anti-phase relaxation oscillation frequency is experimentally demonstrated in a two-polarization dual-frequency solid-state laser without any optical or electronic feedback loop.

Liquid biopsy epigenetics: establishing a molecular profile based on cell‐free DNA

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) fragments in plasma from cancer patients carry epigenetic signatures reflecting their cells of origin. These epigenetic features include DNA methylation, nucleosome modifications, and variations in fragmentation. This review describes the biological properties of each feature and explores optimal strategies for harnessing cfDNA ...

Water-absorbing capacitor system for measuring relative humidity [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
A method and apparatus using a known water-absorbent polymer as a capacitor which is operated at a dc voltage for measuring relative humidity is presented.

Fourier Analysis of the Parametric Resonance in Neutrino Oscillations

open access: yes, 2009
Parametric enhancement of the appearance probability of the neutrino oscillation under the inhomogeneous matter is studied. Fourier expansion of the matter density profile leads to a simple resonance condition and manifests that each Fourier mode ...

Day/night variations of myeloid and lymphoid cell subsets in the murine inguinal lymph node

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The circadian system is involved in the temporal regulation of the immune system. Our study reveals that two innate immune populations, NKT cells and neutrophils, predominate at the beginning of the day in healthy mice, highlighting how the time of day influences immune responses.

Self-Oscillation Multicarrier Light Source Based on Recirculating Frequency Shift Loop

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2021
A novel scheme of self-oscillation multicarrier light source based on recirculating frequency shift loop (RFSL) is proposed and experimentally demonstrated in this paper.

The photoswitchable cannabinoid azo‐HU308 enables optical control of Ca2+ dynamics in INS‐1 β‐cells via off‐target effects on TRPC channels

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Light activation of the photoswitchable cannabinoid ligand azo‐HU308 triggers Ca2+ influx in pancreatic β‐cells through TRPC channels, independent of CB2 cannabinoid receptors. This reveals a non‐GPCR pathway for cannabinoid modulation of β‐cell Ca2+ dynamics and establishes azo‐HU308 as an optical tool to study cannabinoid signaling through TRP ...
