Characterization of Low-Level Wind Shear Induced by Convective Weather
Advances in SciencesThis paper analyzes the wind shear during 16 convective weather events in 2021 using conventional observation data and NCEP reanalysis data, NECP reanalysis data, Doppler radar wind profile radar data, and laser wind radar data, and classifies them into three categories, namely, wind shear induced by the outflow of thunderstorms, wind shear induced ...

AC 00-50A: Low Level Wind Shear
1979This advisory circular is intended to provide guidance for recognizing the meteorological situations that produce the phenomenon widely known as low level wind shear. It describes both preflight and in-flight procedures for detecting and predicting this phenomenon as well as pilot techniques that minimize its effects when inadvertently encountered on ...

Quickly Sample and Reconstruct for Low-level Wind Shear Data Measured by Coherent Lidar
2019 IEEE 2nd International Conference on Electronic Information and Communication Technology (ICEICT), 2019Low-level wind shear is a type of catastrophic weather that can cause aircraft to flip over, stall or even crash. Therefore, it is very important to detect and recognize this phenomenon. In recent years, coherent Lidar has been proposed to detect low-level wind shear, but the common recognition methods need large computation to inverse the wind field ...

Note on Observed Vertical Wind Shear at Low Levels Over the Ocean
Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society, 1953A statistical analysis is presented of anomalous vertical wind shear with height from the surface to 1000 and 2000 feet over the ocean. Mention is made of unusual wind effects on the sea surface as a phenomenon that appears to be related to varying wind profiles, dependent upon oceanographic and meteorological conditions.

Influence of Complex Geomorphology on Low-Level Wind Shear at Airports on the Loess Plateau
Weather and ForecastingAbstract Low-level wind shear (LLWS), characterized by sudden changes in wind speed/direction within 600 m off the ground, poses a significant risk to aviation safety. This study investigates the mechanisms of topographic features and land-use types influencing the formation of LLWS at Lanzhou Zhongchuan International Airport ...
