Low-rise building simulation

open access: yes, 2015
This  project  consists  of  a  study  of  the  flow  around  low-‐rise  buildings  and  how it interacts along the surfaces. To study that, two techniques will be covered: oil technique and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). It will give an overview of the  oil  technique,  how  to  apply  and  its  resolution  and  for  CFD  it  will  go  through ...

Thermoreflectance Detection of Point Defects Resulting from Focused Ion Beam Milling

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Focused ion beam (FIB) milling is a common tool for nanoscale material processing, however irradiation damage, redeposition, and contamination can occur. We use several characterization tools to show FIB‐induced effects beyond 1 mm from the milled area.

Skill Polarization in Local Labour Markets under Share-Altering Technical Change [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper considers the “share-altering” technical change hypothesis in a spatial general equilibrium model where individuals have different levels of skills. Building on a simple Cobb-Douglas production function, our model shows that the implementation

Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

A Comparative Study on the Internal Pressure of Building Wind Codes [PDF]

open access: yes
[[abstract]]The variation of the internal pressure coefficient is one of the many reasons that causes the difference on the building design wind loads among the building codes in the APEC region.

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.
