Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

An intracellular transporter mitigates the CO2‐induced decline in iron content in Arabidopsis shoots

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study identifies a gene encoding a transmembrane protein, MIC, which contributes to the reduction of shoot Fe content observed in plants under elevated CO2. MIC is a putative Fe transporter localized to the Golgi and endosomal compartments. Its post‐translational regulation in roots may represent a potential target for improving plant nutrition ...

MARKETING STRATEGY FOR CONSTRUCTING AND PROMOTING LOW-RISE BUILDINGS

open access: yesHerald of Khmelnytskyi National University. Economic sciences
The study presents the theoretical and methodological foundations for developing a marketing strategy for constructing and promoting low-rise buildings. Building and promoting low-rise housing requires an integrated approach and effective marketing strategy. The authors have identified a number of useful steps in this direction.

An investigation of arc discharging on negatively biased dielectric conductor samples in a plasma [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
Proposals are now being developed for the construction of high-power photovoltaic systems for operation in low Earth orbit, where the plasma number density is about 1,000 to 1,000,000 per cubic cm.

Hematopoietic (stem) cells—The elixir of life?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The aging of HSCs (hematopoietic stem cells) and the blood system leads to the decline of other organs. Rejuvenating aged HSCs improves the function of the blood system, slowing the aging of the heart, kidney, brain, and liver, and the occurrence of age‐related diseases.

Seismic Retrofit Technique Using Plywood and Common Nails for Connections of Low-Rise Timber Frame Construction

open access: yesBuildings, 2022
Since the Japanese Building Standards Act was revised in 2000, the installation of steel timber connectors (STCs) to reinforce timber frame (TF) connections has been mandated for new-build TF houses in Japan. However, for the TF houses built before then,
