Low Temperature Anomaly in Mesoscopic Kondo Wires [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
We report the observation of an anomalous magnetoresistance in extremely dilute quasi-one-dimensional AuFe wires at low temperatures, along with a hysteretic background at low fields.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

A compound-specific method for measuring the stable carbon isotopic composition of amino acids: elimination of the effect of isotopic fractionation during derivatization

open access: yesProgress in Earth and Planetary Science
Compound-specific isotope analysis (CSIA) of carbon and nitrogen within amino acids by gas chromatography/isotope ratio mass spectrometry (GC/IRMS) has been employed as a powerful tool for estimating the trophic tendency and resource utilization of ...

Unconventional fractional quantum Hall states and Wigner crystallization in suspended Corbino graphene

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
Understanding of ordered phases of interacting electrons in 2D systems is a fundamental many-body physics problem. Here, the authors report unconventional fractional quantum Hall phases in graphene Corbino devices originating from residual interactions ...

Enhanced expression of genes in the brains of larvae of Mamestra brassicae (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) exposed to short daylength or fed Dopa

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Entomology, 2003
The cabbage armyworm, Mamestra brassicae, enters diapause in the early pupal stage. Pupal diapause is induced by rearing the larvae under short day lengths.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Continuous time crystal coupled to a mechanical mode as a cavity-optomechanics-like platform

open access: yesNature Communications
Time crystals are an enigmatic phase of matter in which a quantum mechanical system displays repetitive, observable motion – they spontaneously break the time translation symmetry.

Yang-Mills thermodynamics at low temperature

open access: yes, 2007
For the confining phase of SU(2) Yang-Mills thermodynamics we show that the asymptotic series representing the pressure is Borel summable for negative (unphysical) values of a suitably defined coupling constant. The inverse Borel transform is meromorphic
