Low Velocity Impact Testing on Laminated Composites
2021The response of composite laminates from transverse impact loading is known to vary with the speed of impact. In Low Velocity Impact (LVI) conditions, boundary effects usually dominate since the impact duration is longer between the laminate and the impactor.

Composite tube under low velocity impact
2009Advanced applications of tubes made of carbon-epoxy composites in which the main external load is torque, have been recently developed in the industrial and sports fields. In order to use these high specific performance material components, a fundamental problem for the designer is the low energy and velocity impact behavior.

Low Velocity Impact of a Viscoelastic Beam
Journal of Engineering for Industry, 1982A theoretical solution for the response of a viscoelastic beam to off-center low speed transverse impact is presented. The flexural model adopted for investigation consists of a uniform Bernoulli-Euler beam whose behavior has been generalized to include a linear viscoelastic constitutive relation for each element of the beam.

Detection of Low-Velocity-Impact Triboluminescent Emissions
2016Over the last decade, research has shown that triboluminescence (TL) can be used as the active element for impact sensors. TL is defined as the emission of light produced by the fracture of materials. For the last decade, extensive experience has been gained in characterizing TL and has been successfully characterized from low speed impacts.

6 – Low-velocity impact on laminates
2016The objective of this chapter is to investigate how prestress affects the low-velocity impact behaviour of flat and curved laminated composites. Most of the literature concentrated on low-velocity impact behaviour of laminated composite materials without any preloads.

Low-velocity impact on fibre-metal laminates
2014Generating high-energy absorbing FML concepts is challenging because aluminium and composite failure mechanisms are acting concurrently during the impact process. Because the impact process involves energy transformation, an analytical energy balance method was used to assess the contribution of the material constituents in the low-velocity impact ...
