Mode switching DFIG for low voltage ride through

8th International Conference on Power Electronics - ECCE Asia, 2011
With the rapid development of world-wide wind energy generation using doubly fed induction generations (DFIGs), low voltage ride through (LVRT) has become a great concern. This paper focuses on a unique topology of DFIG called IG connection mode to help the DFIG ride through grid faults smoothly.

Low Voltage Ride Through Characteristics of Grid Forming inverters

2020 21st International Scientific Conference on Electric Power Engineering (EPE), 2020
With the certainty of the high share of power electronics in power grid, algorithms for various grid forming inverters have emerged in academia. Due to the grid synchronization strategy of the grid forming inverter is completely different from the current grid following inverters, its dynamic characteristics during grid faults are also different.

Comparison of some low voltage ride-through strategies

IECON 2017 - 43rd Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2017
PV system integration with power grid has many challenges. One of these challenges, the disconnection of PV inverters from the grid under grid faults; these disconnections lead to a stability problem in larger scale of PV power plant. This paper is focused on the comparison of some Low voltage ride-through strategies.

Low-Voltage-Ride-Through-Assistenzsystem für dezentrale Erzeugungseinheiten

e & i Elektrotechnik und Informationstechnik, 2014

Low-voltage ride-through simulation for microgrid systems

2017 IEEE International Conference on Electro Information Technology (EIT), 2017
In contrast to the previous generation of power grid codes, recent standards require that distributed energy resources (DERs) provide low-voltage ride-through (LVRT) capabilities during grid faults. Consequently, the high penetration of DERs in today's power system requires an efficient method of controlling the active and reactive power of those ...

Low Voltage Ride-Through Response Under High PV Penetration

2019 International Conference on Electrical, Communication, and Computer Engineering (ICECCE), 2019
The time variation (weather), photovoltaic (PV) capacity and its location are crucial factors impacting renewable energy sources integration to the Distribution Network. In addition to the above-mentioned constraints, researchers have paid attention on some recently investigated issues caused by PV penetration including; reverse flow of power, voltage ...

Remote detecting low voltage ride through ability of DFIG

TENCON 2015 - 2015 IEEE Region 10 Conference, 2015
There are difficulties in detecting low voltage ride through (LVRT) ability of offshore doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) because of complexity of sea condition. In this paper, a new scheme is put forward to solve this problem. This new scheme takes into account the effect of submarine cables on transient process of circuit, and the influence on ...

Testing Low Voltage Ride Through capabilities of solar inverters

Electric Power Systems Research, 2013
Abstract The increase in the rated power of PV inverters has brought with it new requirements, such as Low Voltage Ride Through and reactive power compensation. Field tests in PV plants are too expensive in terms of production losses, and therefore laboratory tests have become a simple, flexible and inexpensive alternative.
