Strength Properties of Lateritic Subgrade Soil Reinforced with Natural Fibers for Low-Volume Roads: Laboratory Study

open access: yesJournal of Natural Fibers
Most gravel roads leading to rural areas in Ghana have soft spot sections as a result of weak lateritic subgrade layers. This study presents a laboratory investigation on a typical weak lateritic subgrade soil reinforced with non-woven fibers.

Soil geohazard mapping for improved asset management of UK local roads [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Unclassified roads comprise 60% of the road network in the United Kingdom (UK). The resilience of this locally important network is declining. It is considered by the Institution of Civil Engineers to be “at risk” and is ranked 26th in the world ...

Removing Homocoupling Defects in Alkoxy/Alkyl‐PBTTT Enhances Polymer:Fullerene Co‐Crystal Formation and Stability

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
PBTTT‐OR‐R, a C14‐alkoxy/alkyl‐PBTTT polymer derivative, is of substantial interest for optoelectronics due to its specific fullerene intercalation behavior and enhanced charge‐transfer absorption. Comparing this polymer with (S) and without (O) homocoupling defects reveals that PBTTT‐OR‐R(O) forms stable co‐crystals with PC61BM, while PBTTT‐OR‐R(S ...

Route Fatality Risk as a Measure of Travel Death Risk [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
The authors examine the route fatality Risk of routes in Erie County, PA and show that some pose a disproportionately high-Risk to users. They argue that transportation safety could be greatly increased by relatively small expenditures and suggest that ...

Exploring Dipolar Dynamics and Ionic Transport in Metal‐Organic Frameworks: Experimental and Theoretical Insights

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, the interplay of dipolar dynamics and ionic charge transport in MOF compounds is investigated. Synthesizing the novel structure CFA‐25 with integrated freely rotating dipolar groups, local and macroscopic effects, including interactions with Cs cations are explored.

Enhancing Optoelectronic Properties in Phthalocyanine‐Based SURMOFs: Synthesis of ABAB Linkers by Avoiding Statistical Condensation with Tailored Building Blocks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A novel phthalocyanine (PC)‐based metal–organic framework (MOFs) is synthesized using ditopic PC linkers obtained through regioselective statistical condensation. The resulting MOF exhibits significant improvements in electronic absorption, thereby enhancing the material's performance in light harvesting and energy conversion.

Organic Electrochemical Transistor Channel Materials: Copolymerization Versus Physical Mixing of Glycolated and Alkoxylated Polymers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work discusses the use of blended channel materials in OECTs. It explores how mixing glycolated and alkoxylated polymers in various ratios offers a simpler and more efficient route to tuning OECT properties. The performance of the polymer blends is compared to the corresponding copolymers, demonstrating similar OECT characteristics, swelling ...

Visual Analysis of Vehicle Trajectories for Determining Cross-Sectional Load Density

open access: yesTransactions on Transport Sciences, 2019
The goal of this work was to analyze the behavior of drivers on third class roads with and without horizontal lane marking. The roads have low traffic volume, and therefore a conventional short-term study would not be able to provide enough data. We used
