Research progress on the impact of antibiotics in groundwater systems on denitrification

open access: yesShuiwen dizhi gongcheng dizhi
The microbial denitrification process is the most important form of nitrate-nitrogen removal in groundwater. The reclaimed water reuse and livestock breeding caused antibiotic pollution usually co-occurs with nitrate.

Flow Injection–Indirect Spectrophotometry for Hydroquinone Analysis Based on the Formation of Iron(II)-Phenanthroline Complex [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Pure and Applied Chemistry Research, 2019
Hydroquinone is an organic antioxidant widely used for skin lightening products which can cause negative impact in excessive use. This study is focused on the development of fast method for the determination of hydroquinone using flow injection-indirect ...

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Executive functions and associated brain volumetry in children with persistent stunting and catch-up growth

open access: yesScientific Reports
Early childhood stunting can result in sub-optimal executive functions (EF), affecting academic achievements and economic potential in later life. This study hypothesized that children always stunted (AS) at ages 2, 5 and 9 years had lower EF than those ...

Longitudinal circulating tumor DNA profiling in patients with advanced endometrial cancer using an off‐the‐shelf targeted NGS panel

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumour heterogeneity complicates precision management of advanced endometrial cancer. Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a minimally invasive strategy to capture tumor evolution and therapeutic resistance. Here, we compare tumor‐agnostic NGS with tumor‐informed ddPCR, outlining their relative sensitivity, concordance, and clinical implications ...

Clinical performance of the urine‐based TERT promoter AbsoluteQ Digital PCR for non‐invasive detection of bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.

Longitudinal genome‐wide aneuploidy measurements in circulating cell‐free DNA to predict lack of benefit from pembrolizumab in patients with metastatic urothelial cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Many patients with urothelial cancer do not benefit from treatment with pembrolizumab, while at risk of severe side effects. Changes in the levels of circulating tumor DNA early during treatment, measured by a simple and affordable assay that can be easily implemented in the clinic, can be used as a prognostic tool to identify these patients.

Low-cost airlines in Europe: Network structures after the enlargement of the European Union [PDF]

open access: yesGeographica Pannonica, 2010
The liberalization of the European air opened the strictly regulated European market, and contributed to the appearance and quick spread of the Low-Cost Carriers (LCCs). At the beginning of the 21st century the low cost traffic absolutely concentrated on
